Foot steps.
I felt my heart thumping in my throat. It was so prominent I swear I could hear every beat, I wondered if they could hear too.
I rolled under a nearby short table. Batting cobwebs out of my face, the person entered the "bedroom". In my position, lying on my stomach, my head pressed against the floor, all I could see was his/her shoes. They were wearing worn out black vans, maybe size 11, so I narrowed it to a guy. He had jeans on that were just a little too short at the ankles.
He poked around the room, his feet traveled around the room at a quick pace. He tip toed over to the "bed". He nudged the mat with his left foot. Crap, its probably bent in between the planks from lying down.
"Hello?" The soft voice questioned. He kept poking around.
"Is someone here? Come on, I know you're in here."I slowly crawled out from under the table.
"Nice hiding spot" the boy chuckled. I dusted myself off and smiled weakly.
"My name's Parker" he replied.I finally looked up to see his face. He had deep brown eyes, the kind you can get lost in. His hair was dark brown, short, but not too short, and it was styled upwards, but in a nice way. I thought about Luke's brown hair. His was shaggy, the type you could run your fingers through. I shook the thought of Luke out of my head, not now.
"So, whats a pretty girl like you doing in this dump with me?" he spoke, but not rudely.
"I.. I cant go home." I stuttered out,
"Oh, what happened? You can tell me, my life isn't all sunshine and rainbows either" he smiled, softening the mood. I told him my whole story, my parents, Dylan, bullying, anxiety, I briefly mentioned Luke, but I still brought up the fact that I did run away, and I told him to move on and forget about me."Well, welcome to Casa Da Me, my house, were everyones welcome but only few choose to stay."
"So, whats your story?" I asked curiously,
"Long story short, my parents don't give two shits about me. Honestly, I bet they haven't even noticed I'm gone" his voice stiffened.
I stood there, still taken by the fact that I wasn't alone.*
We had a game of 20 questions to break the ice. He was pretty smart, and his answers always had metaphorical backgrounds. He reminded me of my favourite author.
During the game, I could stare at him and not be thought of as crazy, so I got a better look at the boy I would be living with.
He was tall, that's why his jeans looked like floods. His hands were thin but soft, and he had a gawky build. I found him adorable. Don't tell anybody I said that!
"So, its 6 am and I can bet neither of us have gotten any sleep. There's only one bed, as you know, I don't mind sharing" he smiled warmly.
"Its better than with the spiders" I joked. He stuck his tongue out and laid down. I laid down in front of him. The bed was small, barely fitting us, which pushed me against Parker. He draped his arm over me, keeping me warm despite the lack of a blanket.I knew this was wrong, but God did it feel so right.
