I walked in the door with a smile on my face. Not long enough after, a frown painted my lips.
"Where have you been! Are you crazy!" It was Dylan screaming. His eyebrows furrowed.
"I-I" was all I could stutter out.
"Do you know what time it is?!" He yelled.
"N-no"
"It's 12 o'clock! Your curfew is 10!" The anger in his voice frightened me.
I could feel the anxiety creeping up in me. He was genuinely angry. Never, in my life, had I seen Dylan so disappointed in me. And it felt, horrible.
"Why cant you just use your head Bec! Haven't you learned from what happened to mom and dad!" He spat the words out at me. His face eased as he realized what he had said.
"Becca.." He trailed off, but it was too late. My breathing was heavy and dry. The tears streamed down my face as I turned to face the door. I dashed out the door and to the lake where me and Luke had just sat.
The story behind my parents. Its a long and dreadful story. On their 20 anniversary, they went out of dinner. They were worried sick about me because I still wasn't home. Honestly I don't even know why I was out. I just didn't answer my phone, which worried them. While they were on the phone with Dylan looking for me, a drunk man in his Ram truck smashed right into their little Honda Civic. The truck driver was okay.. Our parents.. weren't.
I know it was my fault. He didn't have to tell me. If they hadn't have been on the phone, they could've seen the truck and switched lanes.
Dylan hates me now. He's all I have. I've disappointed everyone. I cant do that to Luke. I knew what I had to do.
I was going to run away.
