Chapter 6: Sleep

After some time of Quaritch talking to the young boy he walked out of the room stiff but calm. I left the room as I followed him.

"So how was it with the boy?" I say walking next to him.

He takes a moment to think and then responds distantly. "He's a bit erratic but I think I can get through to him."

"I see." I say disappointedly. I wonder why he was so distant. I brushed it off and head towards the laboratory. I put on my breathing mask as I head in.

"Oh my god Y/N where have you been!" She says worriedly as she looks up at my tall body.

"Busy that's for sure." I say scrunching my temples with my fingers.

"How long have you been in this body..." she says low but concerned.

"Um for a good while why." I say confused

"If you are in this body for more than a week without ever getting out you could get trapped in it..." she says concerned while still trying to remain calm. She reaches out to my hand and looks at it.

"Wait what..."

"How long has it been..."

"I-I don't know.." I was so scared and worried, my human body being gone just like that. I don't even remember where it was last at. And if it's alone or not.

"Y/N listen very carefully, we need to know how long and where your body is." She says holding my hand tightly.

"Fuck oh my god, I think it's on top of the floating mountains but I can't remember..." I say leaning down with my hand on my forehead. I get up quickly and let go of Maries hand and I reach towards the door.

"Where are you going?" She says with wide eyes

"I have to go find the colonel and then my body..." I say opening the door quickly and shutting it fast behind me as I run to his room.
As I was running I kept coming close to bumping into humans so I had to be careful.

"MAKE WAY!" I yell as I go through. I finally made it out and run to Quaritch door and I start banging on it.

"COLONEL ITS AN EMERGENCY!!!" I say and the door swiftly slides open and he had a gun on his hand.

"WHAT HAPPENED?!?" He says ready to fight.

"I need to know how long I've been away from my human body!" I say desperately

"You're what?"

"My human body, how long was I away?"

"I don't know maybe over a week, we left on the 20 right now it's the 29th" he says confused

My eyes widen and I fall to my knees. He looks at me confused and leans down to me.

"What's wrong with your body did something happen?" He looked at me still not understanding.

"It's gone...my human body is gone..." I say looking at him with tears in my eyes.

He looks back at me wide eyed but still not understanding what I'm talking about.

"Hold your horses, what do you mean it's gone explain."

It took me a moment to explain it to him. And when he finally understood he sunk a bit and then he paced around worried and then finally he remained calm. He then glances around and pulls me into his room closing the door behind me.

"Alright, we can't tell Ardmore about this, at least not right now. There's too many things going on and it'll just fall off."

"Then what are we going to do, leave my body to rot??!" I say loudly before he swiftly covers my mouth.
