~ Kian
He tilts his head back. It was finally raining again after a long time. The drops are pattering on the street, on his car, on him. He wished the rain could wash away all his worries, just like the pictures some children drew in the street. He noticed that his clothes were getting wet and his hair was sticking to his forehead. But he wanted to stay here, not go into the house just yet. He didn't want to go back into his family's life. It suffocated him. His sister was long gone. She had taken the opportunity to run away. Now she was somewhere in the country, far enough away to cut ties with her parents but close enough to keep it up with him. It was different when she was with him. She had always been his rock. And then she was gone. It had hurt him, and deep down, he was mad at her. But whenever they spoke on the phone, they avoided difficult subjects. He acted like he was glad and a little proud of her that she had made it. He only pretended, though. And he knew she knew.
"What are you doing here?" Suddenly, a voice came from behind his back. He spun around. But it was just his mate from school, Ascian, who was living in the same street. "Just enjoying the rain." he told him, then gazing back up to the clouds. He never told Ascian about his family problems. He thought he might have kind of figured, though. Sometimes, his parents are getting so loud you can hear them on the street, and next to that, he never invited Ascian over since his sister was gone. "Maybe you should go in, though." His mate suggested pointing out to his wet clothes. "Otherwise, you will get a terrible cold." Yep, probably that was true, but he didn't feel ready to step inside the house. "Maybe." He answered. "No, I'm serious, Kian. You should go inside." Ascian told him. Kians gaze came back to him. "What should I do when you have to stay at home because you're sick and I have to handle all of the girls in school? Just how? How should I handle this?"
"You're no better since you're standing next to me in the rain." Kian shrugged. He closes his eyes again. Suddenly, he felt the weight of Ascians hands on his shoulders, so he opened his eyes again. In his look, Kian can see a glimpse of worry. Maybe he should actually step into his parents' house. "Okay, I'm going." He murmured. He wanted to turn around, but Ascian was still holding him by his shoulders. His look was a little concerned. "You know I got your back, don't you?" He tells him seriously.
Maybe Kian should tell him what was going on. But not now. "I know." He nodded but looked away from him, knowing that it would not help their friendship to become better again. Lately, they started to drift away from each other. Or just Kian started to drift away. Ascian has always been there for him. But maybe Kian just didn't want him to think that he was weak. He knew that his mate wasn't pleased with his answer, but Ascian let him go. Another thing that will probably never change in his personality. He never pushes someone to tell something. He just stays there, with them, and waits until the other one is talking to him. "Thanks." He told his mate with a small smile on his lips. Then he turned around, walking towards the house. Behind him, he hears a small sigh. He knew that Ascian was his rock, as well, but it always has been his sister, and he really can't handle changes that are that big good. He stood in front of the door, fiddling his keys out of his pocket. He knew that Ascian was watching him. And he was kinda thankful that he did because he would have probably just stayed outside the whole night, standing in the rain. Finally, he got his key out of his pocket, and while unlocking the door, he sent a last look to Ascian, still standing in the same place, looking at him. Then he opened the door, stepped in the house, and within seconds, he felt the oppressive feeling of being inside the house his parents were fighting in. He let's out a long breath he didn't know he was holding and walking up to his room quietly. He didn't want to speak to his parents. He didn't want to speak to anybody. He entered his room and closed the door behind him, eyes closed. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, and he was glad that neither his mother nor his father wanted to talk with him about some random shit. He hated those conversations because he knew that his parents were trying to fake something that broke years ago. They smile and laugh, and maybe, if he wouldn't know them that good, he'd believe everything is okay, but it wasn't. He knew his parents. He knew they were trying for him. But it seemed to him that that was the last thing their opinions matched. Over the years, it got less and less. The atmosphere in the house got colder and colder each argument. Sometimes, he thinks that he really should run away, just as his sister did. But he also knew that he was the only thing in the house to keep everything from falling into a hellhole of chaos.
He walks through his room and ends up standing before his window. There was a thought, a hopefully glimming spark. He could just open the window, jump the small distance to the garden down, and run away.
But he can't. He stayed there and just looked the rain slowly running down his window, like tears.
He swallowed.
No, he wouldn't cry. If he'd cry, it meant that he was weak, couldn't stand his feelings, couldn't fight against them.
He turned around, angry with himself. He wanted to scream. He wanted to scream until somebody came to help him with all the things going down in his life.
This was the moment he remembered Ascian. He was there for him and stayed by his side when his sister didn't. He would just sit there with him and listen to his story.
He turned around, facing the window again. He realised he was crying by now, but he just wiped the tears away, concentrated on his plan.
He silently opened his window, hearing the rain fall down. Fortunately, it was rain just falling straight to earth. It wouldn't rain in his room. He turned around the last time to face his room. His gaze met his own as he looked in the mirror. He looked absolutely terrible, wet to the bones and with red eyes. He sighs. Then he turned around and with one big jump he was out of his window. Out of the house that tied him up so much lately.
