~ Ascian

As Ascian heard the doorbell ring, he wondered who it could be. At this time, usually nobody would come to his house. Before Kian started distancing himself, he would have come over, but that day, Ascian saw how Kian walked into his parents' house. So he guessed that it couldn't be him.
He liked Kians state of mind and how he would sit there with him, reading a book or listening to music without having the will to talk all the time. They could just sit next to each other, do different things, and don't have to talk with each other because they liked the comfortable silence between them.
The doorbell rang again. That showed Ascian that his thoughts flew away again. Somehow, they started doing this since Kian wasn't with him. He stood up from his bed, where he laid down without changing his wet clothes, that nearly dried up to that moment, and went to open the door.
The door swung open, and Ascian frowned. Kian stood in front of him, with red eyes and a sad smile on his lips. "Can I maybe come in? Just for a short time, but I can't be at home right now." He said. "Of course, come in," Ascian said and stepped out of Kians way. As Kian stood in the corridor, Ascian closed the door and leaned himself against it. "What happened, that you don't want to be with your family?" He asked, now curious. Kian looked everywhere, but Ascians eyes. "Nothing." He said, but it sounded like a question to Ascian. But he knew that Kian wouldn't answer if he asked again. So he just looked at him, hoping that his silence would say everything.
It did. Kian looked at him, and Ascian was shocked to see tears in his best friend's eyes. He cautiously grabbed Kians arm and pulled him to the couch in the living room. They sat next to each other, and Ascian locked their eyes. "Talk to me, Kian. I can't stand you being sad." He knew that his look was full of concern, but he didn't care. He just wanted to know what caused his best friend to be sad. "I don't want to talk about it yet." Kian said. "Can you maybe distract me a little bit so I can forget about all the things that... yeah, can you just distract me?" He added. Ascian nodded and thought a second about what to do with Kian.
A few minutes later, both boys were playing Mario Cart and laughed all the time. It got quiet when they started the last few rounds, but both of them were smiling. Suddenly, Ascians brother stood in the room, and the atmosphere got cold. With a look full of disgust, he glared at Ascian. "How could you dare to bring a boy after school? We talked to you yesterday!" He said. Then he turned to Kian, who looked both concerned and confused at the same time. But before Ascians brother could say a word to him, Ascian stood right in front of him, glaring at him. "How could you dare to talk about this in front of my best friend?" He hissed. His brother looked at him angrily. "I think you soon will regret how you talked to me. The time is over where you got preferred." He spitted at Ascian. Then he turned around and left the room as fast as he entered it. Kian looked at Ascian, confused. "What was this about?" He asked. Ascian turned around and faced him. "Nothing. I just had a little... confrontation with my family." He explained evasively. "Should I ask you again?" Kian asked, knowing that this wasn't the whole truth. Ascian shared a thankful look with him. "No. Not yet, at least."
They finished the round Mario Cart in silence (Ascian won), and then just sat there, looking at the Mario Cart home screen. After a time, Kian sighed. "I think I should go home again." Ascian looked at him. "But you don't want to, right?" He figured. "Kinda, but I have to go." Kian said with a sad smile. Then he slowly got up from the couch and walked towards the door, Ascian followed close behind him.
As they stood in the open front door, Ascian laid his hand on Kians shoulder again. "You can talk to me, you know that, right? I'm still your best friend." Kian smiled at him. "Thank you, Asc. And you can also talk to me, I'm still your best friend as well." Then he turned around and walked down the small way towards the street. Ascian looked after him. He knew that Kian didn't want to go home, but still didn't want to tell him the reason. He sighed quietly and closed the door. Then he made his way up into his room again. Just as he laid down, his brother opened the door. He grinned evilly. "Know what?" He asked. But Ascian was too tired to get angry. "What?" He said in a bored tone. "I told dad you got a boy over." In one second, Ascian sat horizontal in his bed. "You didn't." He said, quiet shocked. "I told you, you're gonna regret how you talked to me, so..." He smiled innocently. "I could kill you right now." Ascian hissed, one hand grabbed his bedsheet tightly. "But you won't do this because then you would get kicked out." His brother said, proud of himself. "Maybe I should do it then." Ascian murmured. His brother looked quiet shocked, and he left the room as fast as he popped in. Ascian fell back on his bed. He knew for sure that this day would end very badly. He started to prepare himself for the words that his father would use, but just the thought of it got him near crying, so he stopped.
He turned around, wondering if he should get to sleep. As soon as he thought about it, he fell asleep, exhausted from the day.
Half an hour later, he got awake suddenly because his father burst into his room. He grabbed his arm so tightly Ascian winced. He wasn't prepared for his father to be able to hurt him. "Your brother told me you got a boy over! How dare you do that after yesterday!" He yelled at Ascian and clenched his hand into a fist.
Ascian closed his eyes.
