1997 August 26th

When five years passed, she wasn't surprised that her mother death came swiftly. She even didn't even bother crying at her funeral. Her mother died all those years ago.

But now a new problem arrived.

Her father couldn't keep up with the cooking, cleaning, and the jobs her mother conducted. So, he needed a new wife.

But how could he find the perfect one?

Well Mariam and Omar got that covered. Every time a woman came over to seek her father's marriage, they would put a tape which has recorded screams underneath her chair. So far, every woman would rush out of the house absolutely mortified, screaming"I will not be the stepmother of such immature children!"

However, one woman piqued their interest.

She had the calming voice of an angel, with the most petite and fragile face. When she arived, she walked politely into their residence, stealing all their hearts.

But there was a bonus. She also had Australian residency.

One day, her father's voice echoed down the halls alerting her and her siblings to hurry downstairs.

"You all might be wondering why I called you here"

They nodded in unison.

"Well, as your new mother has an Australian citizenship, and you know how Lebanon is doing these days," he added excitedly, changing the solemn mood, "I have decided that we will all move to Australia and start a new life! What do you all say about that?"

Mariam's chest was filled with contempt and impatience, quietly questioning what will arise in the new country.

Were they finally going to leave this hellhole?

Will there finally be clean tap water?

Will there be, she gasped, KANGAROOS?

Mariam rushed to her room and started brushing her curls, admiring every loop and shine. Seeming as they were going to start a new beginning Mariam decided to take a step forward to being closer to becoming more chaste and modest. Carefully opening her draw with her slim fingers, she removed a long silky cloth and wrapped it around her hair. Content with the new look, she picked out some clothes that masked her beauty perfectly.

She was officially ready for a new life,

A new beginning,

A new chapter,

that can either end up with her heart six feet under the world or six feet above it.
