Sidenote:
There's no top or bottom (Y/n, Jennie), both are switches in case someone finds that important idk, I guess someone does.
Aside from that, this is a slow-pacing book (Slowburner) with only 10 long chapters.
Each chapter ranges from 15k to 30k+ words.

There's also a playlist linked in my bio to this story.

There have already been warnings at the beginning so keep those in mind while reading since there will be mentions of triggering topics, and the use of pejorative terms/slurs

(Flashback)

"Y/n, where's your sister?" You hummed confused and looked up from your homework as you sat behind the counter of your parent's restaurant- it wasn't big or making millions but enough to keep a family of four under a roof. Your dad sounded quite frustrated, and you not replying immediately seemed to add to the frustration. It wasn't exactly your fault that you were invested in your homework and tired after school. The restaurant wasn't big and it was mostly visited by locals and a lot of the customers were regulars who loved your parents' cooking. "Soo-ah, where is Soo-ah, Y/n?" Your father questioned again, this time louder and your lips parted at that, you pointed towards the exit with your pen. "She had to go out for something." You replied since your sister, who was four years older, had to go out for something- you assumed that it was her boyfriend but she told you to shut up about it and not bring him up to your parents. She was 20, but having parents that were strict it didn't matter how old she was since she still lived under their roof.

Your father huffed, seemingly not pleased that she left- you didn't blame him since she kind of worked here, helping out as a waitress after her college classes since it was cheaper for your parents than to have to hire actual waitresses/waiters. You only came here at times after school, usually, if you were hungry so you would just eat and then do your homework while waiting for them to close so you wouldn't have to walk home but take the car with your parents or sister instead. "Here, go and take the order then since she's not here and when she's back tell her that if she has to leave she tells me and not you." Your eyes widened when your dad just pulled you to stand up from the stool you were sitting on, handing you a notepad and a pen, manhandling you as usual. "And please, for the love of God, write in a way that's readable." He said and gave you a shove, pushing you away from behind the counter. Pointing out that you had bad handwriting which your parents did not like one bit.

"What table?" You questioned, having no clue who just walked into the restaurant and he heaved a sigh, pointing towards the direction of the seats near the window. The place wasn't even close to full, but since you weren't looking up you had no clue who had ordered and who hadn't. You looked back to see that he had already walked back into the kitchen and you swallowed, always slightly nervous at having to interact with strangers. It wasn't that you were introverted or had social anxiety, it was just different when it came to having to take orders. Either way, you had no other choice than to take this order so you walked towards the table near the window where just a single person was sitting. "Hi...I'm here to take your order if you're ready." You said and bowed before looking at the girl.
