This is for SwampySimpo. I am so sorry this took so long. I got really busy all of a sudden and I ran out of time in the day. I wrote this with a female reader in mind, because it's what I'm best at. I hope you didn't think that I forgot about you and your request. I hope that this is to your liking and that you will leave another request and share with your friends.
Jay rolled over on his back and threw an arm over his eyes. Music blasted through his headphones as he tried not to think about the break up again. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't help but replay the conversation over and over in his mind. She said that they were just friends and that was all they would ever be.
He let his arm fall to his chest as he looked up and stared at the ceiling. As the next song came on, his eyes widened. The voice coming through the wires was that of his best friend from his childhood. One of the few who had been invited to the junkyard on more than one occasion. The one who tested his inventions with no questions asked. And went with him to the doctor when those said inventions didn't work the way they were supposed too.
He sat up and grabbed his phone and scrolled through his contacts before he found their name. Y/N L/N, singer and song writer. He thought about calling, but he didn't think that he could talk with the tears coming back, so he opted for a text message. Well, more like a short novel explaining what had happened and if he could come over and hang. He watched the three dots appear and sit under his text for forever. He could feel the anxiety bubble in his stomach before his phone dinged with a response. He sighed as he read the message. He threw his legs over the side of the bed and quickly got ready before leaving the Bounty.

Jay knocked on the door and took a half step back. He looked at his phone and then to the number on the apartment door. She had sent him her new address, but he was worried that he had come to the wrong address. He was relieved when her face was on the other side of the door. She threw her hands up and smiled.
"Jay bird!! It's been sooo long!" Y/N exclaimed as she pulled Jay into a hug. Jay nodded as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Hey N/N," he replied in a soft voice, trying hard not to let his emotions get the better of him.
"Too much excitement? That was probably too much. Come inside! I can make some tea or we can play video games or just talk. I'm here for you," she replied as she pulled him through the door and shut it behind them.
"I don't know if talking will be great. I'll probably just lose it. I'm just her friend, nothing more. I think I just want to play videogames or something," he replied, taking a few steps forward before turning around. Y/N could see the hurt in his face and decided to switch gears before things to a turn for the worse.
"Okay! No problem. I have some music to still work on, but you are welcome to the videogame console while I work. And we can talk about the game while you play. I have to get this song done before the end of the week."
"Oh, let me guess. You haven't started it," Jay teased.
"I have the sheet music written, I just have to work on the lyrics!" Y/N replied, shoving playfully.
Jay smiled and turned to the large TV that hung on the wall. His eyes widened when his gaze landed on the latest gaming console sitting on the table beneath the TV. He ran towards the console and started jumping up and down as he started spitting out facts about the console and all the latest games that had came out with it. Y/N smiled as she walked over to the couch and grabbed the notebook from the side table.
After a few minutes of Jay hyperfixating over the games, he picked a platformer before grabbing the controller and plopping down next to Y/N. He turned on the TV and waited for the game to load. He played level after level, talking about the game design and what he wanted to play after he beat this one. Y/N chatted along as her pencil scratched across the page, before crossing out words to be replaced with something else. Jay noticed that Y/N was crossing things out more and more often the longer they talked. He paused the game and turned to face Y/N.
"So what's the new song about?" Jay asked, propping his face in his hands, giving Y/N all of his attention.
"Oh well, it's nothing really. We don't have to talk about it," Y/N answered, waving her hand with a slight blush on her cheeks.
"Oh, now I AM intrigued! Tell me!"
"Well, my fans had been asking for a while for more love songs. They say I have a voice for it, and I want to make them happy, but I haven't been on a good date in a while. The last few dates have ended in disaster or the other person just wanted the publicity. Seriously, we don't have to talk about it though," Y/N said, looking towards the TV. He could see the hurt in his friend's eyes as she tried to keep herself together.
"But enough about me. Today is about making you feel better. Hand me that other remote. This game has a multiplayer option!" Y/N replied, turning back to face Jay with a big smile. Jay returned her smile as he handed her the remote that was on the other end of the table.
"Winner buys dinner!" Jay exclaimed has he started the multiplayer level.
"What? Like a date?" Y/N asked.
"Sure! It'll help you with your song, and it'll get my mind off of things!" he replied, starting his attack. Y/N paused a moment before mashing the buttons on her own controller.
