"I didn't wanna a be a blonde anymore anyway." Des twirled her newly black hair in between her fingers. She had never had black hair, no one would recognize her, her blonde hair was always a trademark for her. She twirled her hair and bounced her leg while staring out the bus window, watching state after state go by. Weird how running never seems to get you anywhere.
New Orleans is far enough away from Michigan, Des thought, that she could totally rebuild. A complete do over. She had been putting money away for months, as soon as she realized things were getting bad again.
It wasn't easy being an addict and trying to save money; but Des is what someone might call a "functioning addict ". The addictive personality that plagued her psyche never really fit her driven Capricorn personality.
Des was determined, little blue pills in her pocket or not, to start over.
