Author's note: This is inspired by the song Another Love by Tom Odell, and my personal aromantic take on it.

As I'm picking up my bag, my phone chimes. I look at the notification, let out a big sigh and let my bag fall from my hand. It contains nothing breakable anyway.
Nick had ditched me for the girl he's seeing at the moment. You would think 5 years of friendship would be more important than a girl he has been seeing for a few weeks. But apparently not. Now, what to do with my time? I let out another sigh. Maybe I'll call Nicole.
After ordering pizza, I did end up calling Nicole. The phone rang for a while before she answered with a happy, "Hi there! How are you doing?"
"Hello, I was just calling to ask how you are," I answered, dodging her question.
"I'm doing great, how are you?"
"Doing okay, waiting on the pizza I ordered."
"So you're just calling because you have to wait for your pizza, I see how it is," Nicole said with a laugh. "But I have to go, I'm watching a movie with Miranda. I'll see you next week I think?" Miranda, her wife of two years.
With a tired inhale, I answered: "Yes of course, and yes I'll see you next Tuesday, until then."
"Oh right, Dungeons and Dragons, we will see you then, bye!" With that cheerful greeting, she ended the call. I let my head fall against the back of the couch. She hadn't noticed how tired I sounded. Not that I was physically tired, regretfully I couldn't solve this with a good night's sleep.
All my friends seemed to end up ditching me for their partners. Which was unfair to them, because we did enough things together, but there were also a lot of times where we ended up with one person less, or cancelling something because too many people ditched. I'm surprised I'm not crying by now. I thought listlessly. Apparently all my tears have been used up.
