Chris shifted his weight, the anticipation making him fidget as he waited in line at the florist shop. His eyes wandered around the cozy space, taking in the beautiful arrangements that adorned the shelves."You nervous?" Nick asked, breaking his train of thought as their eyes met.
Chris pursed his lips, trying to gauge his own emotions. "Do I look nervous to you?" he replied, genuinely seeking Nick's perception.
Nick glanced at him, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "A little," he confessed, snapping a photo of the charming shop for his Instagram. "It's not a bad thing, just an observation."
As the line inched forward, Chris mulled over Nick's words. Truth be told, he was nervous, even though he knew he had little reason to be. But there was something about this moment that had him on edge. He couldn't help the flutter of nerves in his stomach as he finally reached the counter of the florist shop.
"Can I have bouquets of white and pink Roses delivered?" Chris asked the florist, trying to sound confident despite the butterflies in his stomach.
They were Lovette's favourite flowers. She had casually mentioned it while they were watching "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" together, a movie she had chosen. It was during that iconic office flower scene when she had absentmindedly revealed her preference for roses. Chris had smiled at the revelation, tucking away the information in his mind like a precious secret.
"Certainly," the friendly florist replied with a warm smile. "And would you like to include a note with the bouquets?"
Chris hesitated for a moment, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Writing a note felt like a significant step, and he wanted to choose his words carefully. He thought about the countless text messages and conversations he and Lovette had, the laughter and the shared moments.
"Yeah, I'd like to write a note," Chris said, finally finding his voice. He glanced at the selection of cards on display, searching for one that would convey the right sentiment.
After selecting a simple yet elegant card with soft pink hues, he took a deep breath and tried to articulate his thoughts. The pen felt heavy in his hand as he started to write, his heart guiding the words. He read the note over several times, making sure each word resonated with his feelings. Satisfied, he folded the card and handed it to the florist, who placed it delicately with the bouquets.
Now all that was left was to wait and see how Lovette would react to his surprise. The anticipation grew, but he couldn't help but smile, knowing that he had put his heart into this gesture. Whether Lovette felt the same way or not, he had taken a chance, and that was what mattered most.
