I thought we were different

You kept us like a secret
I thought I meant more to you than that?
I can’t keep it.
Why do you leave me to go into mental combat?

I’m burning alive
Thoughts of what I thought we were
I’m being set out now; I barely survived.
You left me out of fear.

I thought the stars had aligned
Maybe I just saw my hopes,
I was left blinded,
By your lovely acts; how will I cope?

I thought we were forever,
I guess there’s a limit for everything,
Even after all my endeavours,
I guess that’s just the scary thing.

You were Machiavellian,
We were clandestine
My emotions are like a chameleon's skin,
Masked behind an array of colour.

Love will always die,
So why should I cry?
I just want to say goodbye,
Leave to go live in the sky.
