Preview: A Beginning
Between two large buildings, a shadow had been born, sheltering a large group with its embrace. Although the alleyway hung heavy with a pungent smell, laughter purveyed.
It was a multitude of boys, all huddled together, and in the center was a single, small boy.
He was adorned with a torn black suit and crouched over. With his scraped knees and palms on the floor, a scarlet red pool burgeoned beneath him; meanwhile his face blossomed with black bruises.
Then a large boy, garbed with a laurel, kicked the small boy.
As the small boy fell, the laurel-headed boy smiled before he opened and closed his mouth various times.
Yet no words came out.
Suddenly the maniacal laughter rang louder.
But it wouldn't be long before a lullaby is sung, flowing gently on the waves of flowing blades of grass, bringing respite, then peace.
Two boys will laugh underneath a warm summer sky; worlds would collide and souls would burn.
"How boring," a boy, unaware, yawned as he opened his eyes.
