Kurt's mind was clouded with rage and confusion. He began to think that maybe some of what his father had to say about Ram was right, that he was a bad influence, tainting him and making him stray from what he should be doing. Kurt couldn't understand why on earth Ram would be interacting so closely with J.D. after what he tried to do to them, to Heather and to everyone, quite frankly. He slammed his fist into his locker and stormed out of the door.
In the distance, Ram's head jerked slightly to the sounds of Kurt's outrage.
Kurt sat in silence, his face red and his eyes welling with tears for the entirety of the bus ride home. He hated his parents and now he didn't even know how he should feel about Ram. When the bus stopped at his house, he begrudgingly trotted off and hesitated at his front door.
Immediately upon entering, he maintained eye contact with his feet and went upstairs to his bedroom. He flopped face down onto his bed. Only a few minutes passed before the phone rang, and he heard his mom call from downstairs that it was for him. He quickly picked up, slightly relieved but anxious for the distraction. He had no idea who it would be or whether or not it would be a worthy conversation.
Luckily, it was Jonny, and Kurt's heart slowed.
"Hey man, I uh, just wanted to check in" Jonny's voice delivered through the phone. "I kept an eye out for you all day and it really seems like something is going on. You might not want to talk about it, bro. But..." He hesitated.
"But?" Kurt inquired. His palms felt clammy and his whole body was frozen. Jonny was right, he didn't want to talk about it, or think about it. All he wanted was to disappear.
Abruptly, he heard Jonny begin to speak again. "Whatever happened seems more traumatic then you're letting on and I'm here to support you. Really Sweeney, I am."
Kurt could sense the genuineness in his voice. His lips curled upward in a slight smile. He quietly told Jonny that it would be better to not discuss it over the phone, and the two friends agreed to meet at a nearby park.

Kurt's walk to the park was only about fifteen minutes, but it was surprisingly nice. His head was finally clearing slightly and everything was sort of finally getting in order. He sat down on a bench and waited a few minutes for his classmate to arrive.
He watched Jonny's familiar beat up pickup truck pull up and Jonny hop out. Out of the car with him, he brought two bags of fastfood. He sat beside Kurt and handed him one of the bags.
"Here," he said "I know for me personally, feelings are stressful and stress makes me hungry"
Kurt's stomach hadn't stopped feeling uneasy for hours on end at this point. Slowly, he took out some of the fries and ate, preparing for the blow of admitting everything to Jonny and solidifying it as a part of reality.
"So, you knew a little about me and Ram and how our relationship was expanding beyond ... friendship. Well, that sort of relationship is very not good in the eyes of my parents and Ram's parents. We were trying to keep it a secret." Kurt's voice began to break. "I was just stupid and I left something from him out for just a minute and now I can't ever speak to Ram again. My dad.. he.."
His tears were softened by the noise of Jonny sipping the last of his soda before he tested his hand on Kurt's shoulder.
"Listen, it's going to be okay. We are going to figure out a solution to this. It's never okay for him to put his hands on you. Plus, you and Ram both deserve parents who love and accept you." Jonny said sweetly.
"I wish it was easier" Kurt cried
"It will get easier" Jonny promised "You may not have your parents' support, but you still have lots of family who love you"
The rest of the night, Kurt sat on the bench and talked with Jonny. It was a mixture of scheming and just chatting. He felt a sense of comfort, hope and normalcy.
He believed that in some way, he would find his way back to Ram, if he would even have him.
