I stood up pulling Spider behind my legs as the Colonel cleared his throat.
"Kid, you got heart. Those science pukes leaned on you pretty hard."
Panic rippled through me what was this demon in Navi skin talking about as I glanced down at Spider who refused to meet his eyes.
"But you gave them nothin'," The colonel let air pass his lips almost letting a smile take centre with a nod.

"I respect that," Spider moved nervously as the Colonel glanced down at the metal hanging from his hand before moving it forward is unnatural metal clinking twitching my ears and my eyes glared at him challenging him.
"I thought you might want this," he offered it closer to Spider and when he didn't take it he reached to grab his hand. Anger jumped through me and I slapped his hand away.

"You do not touch him!" I growled barring my teeth at the demon,
"It's only dog tags." The colonel showed them openly and Spider took them I think only to stop me from lunching at the colonel,
"That's Colonel Miles Quaritch, deceased killed in action."

"He should still be," my tail flicked anxiously my anger growing. Spider tossed the metal to the corner of the room with a glare, a sense of pride filled my face and I knew he saw it.

"I'm not that man, but I do have his memories." Quaritch moved over picking them up,
"Enough to know that." He paused with a hum,
"He wasn't always the best father, but that's not an apology." He took a seat on the table trying to get closer to Spider almost ignoring me. I say almost because every now and then I could see him glance at me waiting for me to pounce, to lunch for him and ensure that our people would be safe from him again.

"But I can help you, I can get you out of here... Both of you out of here," he finally looked up at me and my nose crinkled with anger.
"Ah, I'm not gonna ask you to betray Jake Sully, you're both obviously loyal and you'd never do that and I'd admire loyalty." He stared up into my eyes and though he was trying to be friendly with us something wasn't sitting right with me,
"Just ride along, otherwise I gotta give you back to the lap coats."

Spider gripped my hand on panic and I begrudgingly gave a nod to show we agreed, whatever they did to him before I could not let it happen again he was scared and I would kill anyone that tried to touch him. Quaritch stood up smiling down at me now being taller, he seemed to enjoy the cooperation we were giving up to him.

"Tomorrow you'll meet the team but for today I'll leave you here, as long as you don't do anything stupid I'll leave you two together." He glance between the two of us before slowly taking a couple of breaths through his mask and then taking the it off and placing it on the table. He gave me a slight nod before stepping out of the room and closing the door, I waited till he disappeared before I let out a breath I hadn't realised I was holding. I lowered myself to a kneeling position with shaking legs I reached to check on spider but he had moved grabbing the mask and holding it out for me to use, I held it to my face as my eyes searched his face unsure if I should ask what they had do to him.

"Oh my boy," I whimpered as I placed my hand on his face wiping away at the small amount of dried blood that occupied under his nose and outline that indicated that there was a more heavy bleed.
"Are you okay?" I knew it was a stupid question of course he wasn't. Look where we were but he nodded none the less before wrapping his arms around me seeking comfort from a hug which I gladly returned, landing my head on top of his and closing my eyes.

Miles Quaritch

I strolled down the hallway heading towards the cell of the Navi and human who apparently had made themselves into a mother son duo. I had gotten my arse handed to me yesterday after leaving them in that room by General Ardmore, princess had caused a major concussion on a guard and broken four bones in the nerd who thought it'd be a good idea to go into a room with a not restrained 8'8" Navi woman that still had blood splatter on her.

I had to explain to Ardmore that neither Spider or the Navi woman would cooperate without each other and that they treated each other like mother and son. She had given me permission to use her as well as long as I promised to maintain positive control of her at all times by any means necessary.

Her soft spoken voice lulled the air around her as she cared for the boy but as he responded, calling her Ma had confused me I almost thought I misheard him or that it could've been her name but no. Their interactions made more sense, especially her practically giving herself up to defend the boy.

A faint hum flowed out of the cell and down the hall meeting me early causing me to stop short of the room and listen, it touched something in my chest a longing of some kind. I flattened my ears to not listen to it and ignore anything that came with it, the humming faded once my boots were close enough to be heard and I came to a holt turning to face into the room. She sat in the corner with her yellow eyes piercing my soul with a glare, Spider was curled up beside her with his head in her lap sleeping. Her glare told me to go away to be anywhere but near her, but what I needed and what she wanted was not going to work.
