it was the first day back from summer break, students laughing as they met up with their friends, teachers complaining about not having their morning coffee, and the sports team hyping everyone up for their potential for winning the tournament.
a soft blue acura integra pulled into the Hawkins Highschool parking lot, its engine fretting as whoever was driving it turned the car off. the door opened, the one and only steve harrington stepping out and looking around, taking off his sunglasses that had shaded his eyes from the menacing rays of the sun. "god i don't miss being here" he mumbled before turning to look back into the car.
"are you going to hurry up and get out or what?" he asked, watching as the passenger side door flew open and a familiar female got out. a medium height brunette got out of the car, slinging the straps of her navy blue backpack over her arms. "no need to get an attitude problem steve" she sneered "not my fault you inhaled too much hairspray this morning"
steve slammed his car door shut and rolled his eyes "oh whatever cymbeline, it's not my fault that you will never have a shot with that weirdo that plays dnd" he said before walking off towards the school "don't get into any fights weirdo!"
cymbelines face bloomed a deep red color, her eyes widening with anger "OH SHUT UP STEVE!" she said, slamming her car door shut before rushing after him, eventually catching up to him and walking beside him. "im just nervous for all of this, i don't really know how to make friends..."
steve scoffed, watching as a familiar curly haired male snuck up behind his sister and grabbed her shoulders, causing her to scream. "hey eddie" he said with a bit of a chuckle "this is where we part ways, see you guys at lunch...not"
cymbeline playfully punched eddie in the shoulder, smiling softly "im glad your here, steve wasn't being very much help" she said "to ease my anxiety and all, so, i guess i could confide in you now". she headed into the school, wading through the ocean of students with eddie attached to her at the hip.
the two approached her locker, eddie leaning against the ones beside hers "well im just glad your in my english class, steve said you were really good at writing" he said, watching as she shoved her books into the tiny locker, a few of them tumbling out and hitting her on the head abruptly.
"writing is more of a hobby, i would love to do it full time but that just takes way too much time" she said, forcing her locker closed now "and we have midterms in two months, so that means we only have two months to cram study for all of these classes"
eddie laughed at her, taking his hand and patted her on the shoulder "oh trust in me miss wallflower" he said with a chuckle "you won't be needing to study for those midterms, they are easier if you just skip and don't do the work at all"
cymbeline furrowed her eyebrows together and swatted her friends hand off of her "you know eddie maybe thats why you keep getting held back" she said, moving away from him towards the middle of the hallway "school means a lot to me, and i don't want you to...mess this...up"
her eyes widened and her heart began to race as she saw the most beautiful girl, woman, she had ever seen in her life. the way her curls were perfect, her smile, the way she dressed. everything about her was just perfect. "eddie" cymbeline muttered "who is that?"
eddie turned around to see who she was talking about and his heart fell flat "that nancy wheeler, hawkins national princess" he said before looking over at his friend "you don't have feelings for her already..do you?"
