As I thought about it, sneaking out would be hard. Maybe I'll be able to leave after the summer. Still thought, that's a maybe.
Almost an hour after, Chiron approached me. I was in the strawberry fields then.
He told me my grandparents left me a few assets which I would have to claim. Their lawyer had requested to see me.
"Will I, uh-" I hesitated, "-need to go there?"
He nodded, "Tomorrow you leave, sharp at 7 am."
I nodded.
The chances, there were so many chances for me. Why did I need to think?
Aw well, let's hope for the best now.
My grandparent's lawyer was old. He was a 37 year old man with clean shave, bald round head and hazel eyes with light skin. When he saw me, he stood up and shook my hand, introducing himself as Ron Racha. Well, weird name.
"Well, Mr. Racha? What am I to do?" I asked, then added, "If you haven't noticed I don't exactly know laws and inheritance and stuff. Nor do I have any interests in it."
He looked at me weirdly. What?
"Well, the- their will was clear enough, yet there is one thing you might not know."
"Which is?" I asked back, this was boring.
"You are.. adopted?" he said.
"I'm.. what?"
"Here-" he handed me an envelope, "They wrote a letter, and this file-" he pointed at one, "Contains all the paper work-"
"Right."
Opening the envelope, I found an A4 paper, which was folded. Well, they didn't do a good job on folding it for sure.
The contents mainly spoke on how they had a son, who married, had a child and then the parents died. What?
But they didn't know about the child until almost a year later. As per the letter, they got a letter delivered to them at their son's 1 year death anniversary saying about the child. Apparently, there was no information on what the child was like, other than the birth gender of the baby was a female and named "Beatrice".
When they found me, I looked like their son apparently and was named Beatrice so they adopted me.
So- Wha- the fuck?
"And," continued Mr. Racha, "their will says of their blood related grandchild. So we need a DNA test?"
"The. Actual. Fuck?" My voice went exasperated. Kind of. And why did he say it like a question?
"How many days will the DNA test take?" I questioned
"Approximately this week?"
I nodded, the fuck?
So many chances.
"Excuse me, Miss Beatrice." A high-pitched girly voice said.
