On the way

Chapter. 2

*"(Hope's POV)"*

As I walked in the forest with Luca chatting like a maniac beside me, I could see the sun go down behind the trees. The light slowly fading, and my vision growing dim.

"We should probably find a place to settle down for the night. It's not a good idea to wander the forest in the dark." I told Luca, when he finally stopped talking.

He agreed and we searched for a cave or some sort of shelter.

We eventually found a cave, not too nice though. It was small and not really dry but it'll do for the night.

"Can you go find some wood for the fire?" I asked Luca while I settled down in the cave. I thought the kid could do something easy while I look for dry stones to build a campfire.

"Ou-ut there, al-alone?" He said with a stutter. I could tell he felt uneasy by going out alone in the dark. But even though this kid annoyed me, I wouldn't want him to get himself hurt.

"Ruzzel can come along, you know for company." He looked at me and a smile formed on his face. He then looked over at Ruzzel. The cat was just as excited maybe even more to come along. Ruzzel and Luca had gotten along well the past few hours and even though they barely know each other. I would say they already become best friends.

They walked out of the cave together, Luca starts to chat immediately. This kid, he is like a talking machine powered by air.

Few minutes later they came back. Luca was carrying many big twigs, and Ruzzel was holding a little stick in his mouth looking proud of himself.

We got the fire rolling and tried to get as comfortable as we possibly could in the little cave. While sitting Luca was still blabbering to Ruzzel. About what? Only the gods knew.

I felt my eyes closing so I made ready for bed. Using my backpack like it's some sort of pillow. Not a comfortable one I must say, but thinking of the current situation, it's better than a rock.

While I gave my good nights I told Luca a tip about how he should get ready to bed too. He gave me a thump up but I doubt he listened.

Morning came fast.

I want to just go back to sleep but I know I don't have time for that. I have to check the mountain stonestark. That's what the island with the big mountains name is. The island where the powerful witch locked all the shadows away. Maybe they forgot some, or worse, the shadows may have found a way out. That'll be terrible for everyone. Best to check it out, nobody else is probably gonna do it so might as well.

I got up slowly but surly and looked around the cave. The fire seemed like it died out in the middle of night. Right over on the other side of the cave I saw Luca sleeping. Ruzzel was snuggled beside him.

How cute, they look like they known each other since the beginning.

I stood up and waddled over to them, still a little tired of just waking up. I took my hand on he's shoulder and carefully shakes him awake. I told him to get ready to go while I stared packing up the campsite.

After 2 long hours we finally were on our way.

"Are we almost there" Luca said with the biggest sigh. "We just stared walking are you kidding me" I said almost losing my cool. It was too damn early in the morning for this.

"Adventure isn't always about fighting and exploring, but we must be walking all the way and not let our legs give in" while I gave Luca the 'hero speech' as I like to call it, I noticed he was not paying attention. Then suddenly stopped in he's tracks.
