"SO, WHY NOT?"

Ellis' question was what Delia had been periodically asking herself for the past few days. The question concerning her and Chris, why not date, why not see if he likes her?

Ellis took a drag from her cigarette, blowing the smoke out of Delia's window.

Delia buttoned up her tight 501's as she thought how to answer her friends question. "Other than every obvious reason it's what I'm trying to figure out." She groaned slightly, annoyed with both her own mind and Ellis for bringing up these questions.

"You could break up, and not be friends." She took another drag, taking far too long to blow out the smoke, Delia awaiting the rest of her reasons. "He could kick you out."

"I pay rent."

"Okay. The sex could be bad."

"I don't see that happening." Delia said thoughtfully.

"Yeah, probably not." Ellis agreed, despite not liking men.

Delia raised her eyebrows, laughing. "I don't need to think about this right now."

"You do know he's probably gonna be there?" Ellis said, talking about the house party they'd soon be going to.

"I would think so. Because I'm taking him."

"Oh." Ellis grinned. "Even better."

"And everyone else." Delia almost rolled her eyes, her friends had quickly named her the constant designated driver after they'd learned she was sober from everything.

The party was held in a nice house in West Seattle, most likely someone's rich parents vacation home whom they'd mistakenly given a key to.

Delia sipped on her coke, taking a seat in between Ellis and Stone on the large sectional couch in the packed living room. Stone talked to them both animatedly, lamenting excitedly about Mookie Blaylocks potential album and the tour with Alice In Chains.

Delia eventually left them, not wanting to get any tequila spilled on her from the shots they took. She spotted Chris, beside Kim and Ben, along with an unfamiliar girl who's attention seemed to be solely trained on Chris.

She walked up to the group, smiling slightly at Chris whose eyes now locked on Delia, tuning out the girl in front of him. Delia talked to Kim and Ben, catching up with the two men.

The girl left Chris' side to get a drink, and he joined his three friends in conversation, until Delia got tired of the bandmates talking about Badmotorfinger and went to find someone else to talk to.

She spotted Eddie, walking up excitedly. She hadn't seen him in a little over a week, since he'd came to her place to drop off Chris' amp.

"Eddie!" She called out, smiling.

"Oh, hey." He responded, returning her smile.

"How are you?" She asked, her upbeat nature changing Eddie's mood, though only a tiny bit. It's not that he didn't want to be at the party, just apart from his band members and their friends, he didn't know anyone.

"I'm alright. I've been busy." He sipped his beer, "how have you been?"

His voice. Delia loved his voice. She reminded herself that Eddie was Eddie and not some random guy she could fuck and never talk to again. She could tell he was special, despite only truly hanging out the one time. "I've been good. Chris has been keeping me up though."

Eddie's eyes widened and he raised his eyebrows, laughing. "Really?"

Delia hit his arm playfully, "you know what I mean, dumbass. With his music."
