Chapter Summary:

Set during Episode 28 -With a Bullet.

The aftermath of Teddy being shot.

Teddy's POV:

I never imagined that this call would turn into one of my worst nightmares, but it had done and now myself and Sah were stood here scared and trying to remain calm. I knew our only hope of getting out of here alive with our patient was if I talked to him and tried to calm him down, and it seemed to be working but then he noticed that Sah's radio was still on and he took it and smashed it on the floor leaving it in in pieces.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jacob walking into the shop, the shopkeeper turned around and pointed the gun at Jacob. Jacob tried to get the shopkeeper to calm down and hand the gun over and for a while it seemed to be working and Jacob told me and Sah to run. Sah ran towards the door first and panic instantly spread across my face as the shopkeeper turned around and fired a bullet at Sah, without a second thought I pushed Sah backwards and all I felt was a blinding pain in my right side.

Everything seemed to slow down at that point and all I heard was Sah cry out for help as they caught me in their arms.

Sah's POV:

My heart was beating so fast right now I honestly thought it was going to burst from my chest, Jacob told us to run and so I quickly moved towards the door but then I heard the sound of the gun going off. A bullet was coming towards me and I knew this was it, and then I felt Teddy push me back and I fell into the counter, as I looked back I saw the bullet hit Teddy in the right side.

I got to my feet quickly and cried out 'Teddy No!' as I caught him in my arms. I looked over at Jacob and he was just stood there frozen to the spot, the door to shop burst open and armed police came rushing in closely followed by Ian, my hands were already on Teddy's chest trying to stop the bleeding.

Ian crouched down beside me and said 'Sah it's okay I'm here now, what happened' my voice had gone funny from shouting and crying so much but I managed to say 'He was calming down and then Jacob came in and made everything worse by telling us to run, so I ran towards the door first and he shot at me but Teddy pushed me aside to protect me. I just don't understand why he did it'.

Ian pointed to my forehead and said 'How did you cut your head' using the sleeve of my Jacket I wiped the blood away as I said 'When Teddy pushed me out of the bullets path I fell against the counter and hit my head', Ian nodded and replied 'Okay just make sure you get it looked at when we get to Holby'. It felt like it took forever to get to Holby but eventually we arrived and got Teddy into Resus Dylan came over and said 'Go ahead Sah'. 

As I wheeled the trolley into Resus 1 I said 'This is Teddy he's got a single gunshot wound to the right axillary region, he's lost two litres of blood at the scene. I've not been able to get the bleeding under control with Pressure his sats are 97 on high flow, resps 30 and pulse 120'. Dylan took over from me at applying the pressure to Teddy's wound and asked me if Teddy had been given any Morphine to which I responded 'Yeah 10 of Morphine plus TXA and fluids running'. Walking out of there leaving Teddy in that state made my heart hurt I didn't understand why he would do something like that for me.

I sat waiting for news about Teddy I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened and how it could have been me lying in resus with a gunshot wound, Jan walked over and sat beside me she looked at me and said 'Dylan just came to see me Teddy is going to be absolutely fine, their moving him to a general ward. Why don't you go and see him', I looked down at the floor tears forming in my eyes as I said 'Why would he do something like that for me I just don't understand'. 

Jan squeezed my right hand slightly and said 'Because it's Teddy he might be forgetful when it comes to birthdays but when it really matters he's there for his friends and the ones he loves'. After talking to Jan I made my way to the general ward where Teddy was, I stood outside the door looking through the window at Teddy lying in bed Paige came out and said 'He's asking for you Sah'.

I followed Paige into the ward Teddy turned his head to look at me as I walked over to his bed, I looked at him and said 'It was all abit action man and over the top wasn't it. Seriously though I don't know what to say, nobody's ever done anything like that for me and I won't forget it'. Teddy reached out and took my hand as he said 'I won't ever forget your birthday, your my best friend Sah that's why I did what I did'.
