Don't watch me cry

Chapter Summary: Set during the episode where Robyn dies. Lofty is on shift on the Keller ward with his husband Dom when he receives the sad news that Robyn has been badly injured.

David's POV:

I tried to save her I did everything I could to help her but she was dying, I looked down at her face that often bought so much laughter and joy to the department. I looked over at the clock on the wall and quietly said 'Can we find her a private room' at that point I couldn't hold back the tears anymore I left the resus room and walked back out into the department as I did Marty came up to me and said 'David how is she what's happened'. 

I looked at Marty and I didn't even have to say anything he could tell by the look on my face that something bad had happened.

Dylan's POV:

Today's shift had gone from bad to worse and now we'd lost not just a colleague but a friend, a knock on my office door pulled me out of my thoughts I turned around and said 'Yes come in' the door opened and Sacha walked in. Sacha sat down in the chair on the other side of my desk and said 'I was on my way back up to Keller and I thought I'd come and see how you were doing' I looked at Sacha and said 'I just want this shift to be over, I still have to tell the staff what happened'. 

Sacha nodded and said 'Okay well I'll leave you too it. I've got to go and tell Lofty about Robyn' before Sacha could leave I said 'Would you mind if I went and told him'. After speaking to the rest of team about Robyn and telling them that she was on Palliative care, I had to go upstairs to Keller and tell Lofty. 

Lofty's POV:

Today's shift had been pretty quiet and I was looking forward to going home with my husband Dom and having a romantic night together, I walked into Dom's office to collect some reports from his desk. Dom was sat at his desk working he looked up from his laptop and stared lovingly at me, as I went to pick up the reports Dom leaned over and gently grabbed my scrub top pulling me in for a passionate kiss, as we parted Dom smiled and said 'You've been teasing me all day and I can't wait to get home and have some fun together'. 

I felt so happy and in love at this point that I felt like nothing could upset me, I leaned in intending to Kiss Dom again but a knock at the door stopped me I turned around and saw Dylan stood in the doorway. Dom stood up and said 'Dylan how can we help is everything alright' Dylan cleared his throat and replied 'Lofty I wonder if I could have a word in private', Dom got up from his chair and said 'Please use my office, I have to go and check on some X-rays for a patient'. 

Dylan sat down on the chair and looked at me as he said 'Lofty I think you should sit down' I did as he said and sat down in the other chair, Dylan took a deep breath and said 'Lofty what I'm about to tell you is extremely upsetting but It's important that I tell you. I am so sorry to have to tell you this but Robyn was involved in an RTC on her way home from work' I looked down at the floor and then back to Dylan and said 'But she's okay isn't she, Dylan please tell me she's okay'. 

I noticed as Dylan took another deep breath before he replied 'We tried to repair the damage with surgery, but the damage to her liver and pancreas is just too severe. Lofty she's dying and she hasn't got long left, If you'd like to see her I'd recommend doing it soon'. I shook my head and said 'What about Paul he should be with her shouldn't he and Charlotte' 'We've tried Paul's phone but it's going to answer phone all the time, Lofty she needs someone with her' said Dylan softly. I couldn't hold back the tears any longer and I broke down in tears Dylan placed a hand on my shoulder and said 'I'll get Dom for you'.
