BECKY POV

The hallway buzzed with the usual pre-class chatter, but I was focused on finding a restroom.  "Gotta pee!" I muttered to myself, rushing towards the nearest one.  As I stepped out, I saw Johvie heading towards the student council room.

"Where are you going?" I called out, waving.

She turned, a smile lighting up her face.  She came closer, and before I could react, she leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"To the council meeting," she said, her voice a playful whisper.  "We have a lot to discuss today."

"You mean the gang council or the school council?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

Johvie laughed, a light, tinkling sound. "The school council, silly!  Did you know your parents own this school?"

"Yeah, but my partners with Freen's parents and Hanna's parents," I explained.

"So you've known each other since you were kids?" Johvie asked, her eyes twinkling.

"Yep! Freen and I have been best friends forever.  And Hanna?"

"I heard she was Boss Freen's missing friend before," Johvie said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Didn't she tell you?"

"Huh?" I was confused.

"I overheard them talking, but you should ask Hanna to be sure," Johvie said, her smile fading slightly. "I'll go first, Beck.  I might be late for the meeting."

She hurried away, leaving me with a nagging sense of unease.  "Is Hanna really Freen's friend from before?  Why didn't she mention it to me?"

I entered the restroom, trying to shake off the strange feeling.  When I returned to our classroom, our teacher wasn't there yet.  I leaned against Freen's desk, trying to catch her eye.

"Can I ask something?" I said, my voice low.

Freen looked up, her brow furrowed. "Uhmm..."

"How long have you and Hanna known each other?" I pressed, feeling a growing sense of curiosity.

Freen sighed, her gaze distant. "I forgot to tell you, Beck, that Hanna is my missing best friend from before. Did I not mention her to you?"

"Uhh, how did you meet her again?  How did you know she was your friend?"

Freen smiled softly, her eyes twinkling. "She confessed to me."

I glanced at Hanna, who was sitting behind me.  She smiled back, and I returned the gesture.  I didn't dwell on it anymore.  Freen had explained it, and I trusted her.

"Oh, almost forgot, we have our graduation pictorial next week!" I exclaimed, a wave of excitement washing over me. "Freen and I are finally going to college!"

Our second subject, math, started, and I focused on Ma'am Ethel's lecture.  She was known for her surprise quizzes, so paying attention was crucial.  A low score in her class could seriously impact our future.

Even though we were the children of the school's owners, the teachers weren't lenient.  Only three teachers held real authority here: our advisor, the admin, and the school council president.

The bell rang, signaling the start of break time.  Freen and I headed to the canteen, followed by Hades and Ken, and Hanna.

"Becky, what will you eat for breakfast?" Hanna asked, her voice bright.

I reached out and touched Freen's hand, making her look up from her phone. "What's our breakfast, love?"

Freen smiled, a touch of amusement in her eyes. "Could you please decide?"
