"Jimmy," I nudged him, pointing towards the screen. I clicked on Susan's contact and called her, pacing around.

"Noel," Susan said before I could say hello. "She's awake."

I sighed in relief. I thought something might have happened to Marion. "Well, that's good!" I laughed in relief. "How is she?"

"She's doing good. She was asking for you."

I smiled. "Do you want me to come over there? I would be more than happy to see her."

"I think she would love that. Thanks, Noel."

"I, um, I also have a friend with me. Do you mind if...?"

"Yeah, go ahead. I'm assuming is the Jimmy guy?"

"Yes," I said, laughing when she said 'the Jimmy guy'.

Susan told me which hospital they were at and wrapped up the call. I asked Jimmy if he wanted to come along, and he agreed. He offered to drive with his car.

---

Jimmy parked the car in the parking lot at the hospital that Marion and her family were at. We walked in and walked up to the front desk, where a mid-twenties girl with long blond hair that spilled down her shoulders was sitting.

"Excuse me, do you guys have a Marion Seyfried here?" I said once I approached the blonde.

She looked up at me, then turned her focus to her computer. She typed on her keyboard and looked back up at me. "Yes we do. Are you two visitors?"

"Mhm."

"Are you guys family?"

"No, just friends," Jimmy chimed in.

"Okay, she's on..." The blonde looked back at her computer. "The second floor, room 124."

"Thank you," I murmured, and Jimmy and I searched for the elevator. We eventually found it and clicked on the second floor.

As the doors were closing, Jimmy said: "Thank God Marion is okay."

I laughed. "Tell me about it."

The doors opened and we searched for her room. We passed every room until we found hers.

My breath suddenly got quieter because the room was so quiet I almost thought it was vacant. I leisurely opened the curtains, and there she was: Marion with a smile pasted on her face. I don't think I've ever been so happy to see her.

Her skin looked pale and she had dark circles under her eyes, and she was wearing a nasal cannula, but she was the same Marion I knew.

Susan was sitting at her bedside, her silky hair-that I've always been jealous of-spilling down her shoulders. She looked really good for 42-years-old. Her dad was sitting on the opposite side of her bed.

They all looked up simultaneously. I fixed my gaze on Marion, and she started laughing.

"Noel!" Marion squealed, thrusting her arms out for a hug. I hugged her tight, a tear rolling down my cheek from relief. She sounded completely fine, and that was all I wanted.

When I let go, Jimmy and Marion did a fist bump.

"I'm so happy to see you," I covered my mouth with my hands, my eyes welling up.

"I'm happy to see you too, Noel."

---

We all just talked, laughed, and I couldn't stop taking glances at Marion. I was so happy to see that she was alive and doing well.
