Chapter 12: More Information

-Eridan's POV-
"Wait what!?" Karkat yelled interpreting me as he pulled over and turned around in his seat to look at me. I could tell he was completely shocked, same as Sollux. It was odd, why would they freak out about some guy my brother likes? So I asked, "Umm... Wwhy does that surprise you guys..?" My voice was quiet as I spoke. Sollux and Karkat both looked at each other then back at me as Karkat spoke up, "Kankri is my fucking brother!"
"Tho your brother, Umm Cronuth?" Sollux chimed in. I nodded indicating that he got the name right, "he liketh a human too? But then... Kk I thought you thaid that Kankri died in a car accident!" He said. Now I was confused. Kankri isn't human, I've seen him before. Karkat quickly said something,"I thought he was dead!Porrim told me that he died!" Now I'm very confused. Maybe it was a different person but had the same name? So then I decided to speak up, "I-I'vve seen Kankri in person before. He's not even human. He's a merman just like cro and me. M-maybe you got confused..?" They were silent for a moment,"what'th hith latht name?" Sollux asked, "his full name is Kankri Vvantas," I answered. Both Karkat's and Sollux's eyes widened. "Umm Eridan..? Kk'th full name ith Karkat Vantath." Now it was my turn to be completely shocked. I looked back and forth with wide eyes from Sollux and Karkat. I didn't notice a flash of white light until there was a loud boom. I jumped. What the hell was that!? I felt Sollux's touch on my arm, "let'th get going kk, we can finish this conversation when we get to your place," he said. Karkat nodded then turned back around and continued driving. By the time we got to Karkat's house, I was shaking in Sollux's arm as there was water pouring from the sky. They didn't seem scared of what's going on outside so why am I so frightened? Is it because things like this don't happen back in the ocean..? Probably. Sollux opened the car door and quickly ran inside the house while holding me. He put me on a chair and took off all the stuff I had on. Well everything except the scarf. I really liked it. I was then placed in the tub. Sollux left to unpack his things with Karkat helping him. The tub was bigger so I was more comfortable in it. I looked around at the new surroundings. There were a lot of the same things here as there was in Sollux's bathroom. There were towels, a counter with a sink and a mirror. There was also a toilet and of course, a bathtub. After awhile, Sollux came in and sat beside the tub with Karkat behind him. I looked at the both of them. I guess they wanted to know more about me, my brother Cronus, and his lover Kankri. And I was right. Karkat was the first one to ask a question,"so uhh, Eridan. W-what's Kankri like? I know I said that he's my fucking brother and shit, but I just want to be sure.."
"Wwell, he has short, messy yet neat black hair, has a feww freckles across his face, he's vvery kind, he's also vvery talkativve, and he'll sometimes talk about something called a 'trigge-"
"Yeah that's definitely my brother..." Karkat said as he cut me off... Again, "I don't understand any of this shit though. About two or three weeks ago, his best friend Porrim, told me he fucking died. How can this 'merman' be my own damn brother?" I shrugged. Then Sollux asked me a question,"I'm thure you don't like talking about your father, but I wath jutht wondering, what doeth he have againtht humanth?" I thought for a moment and remembered that my dad told me how he and my brother, got the scars on their faces,"wwell, evveryone knowws my dad as Dualscar because of twwo large scars he has on his face. He told me, wwhen I wwas younger, that long ago him and my brother wwere playing wwhen a group of humans, attacked them. They hit my dad right before he got awway wwith Cronus. At first, he hated humans, but soon he forgavve them. Then another group of humans came and gavve my brother twwo small scars abovve his eye and he lost the color in his eyes. He's vvery lucky to still be able to see. After that attack, he has nevver forgivven the humans since. He doesn't trust them anymore and he's convvinced that evvery human is bad." Sollux was silent so was Karkat. I guess that is a bit much to take in. Karkat asked about his brother again, "do you know how it was even fucking possible for my human brother to turn into a god damn merman?" I shook my head, but I started thinking about it. If Kankri used to be human, but is now a merman, then... Holy shit what if my brother knows how to do that! But then why did he never use it on himself? My dad did say that this kind of power is complicated and comes in many different forms. Maybe he only knew the one that could change others and was permanent? My did say that most of those powers weren't permanent. I guess I could give Cronus a call, but my dad crushed my conch shell. "Actually, I think I knoww howw wwe can find out more about what happened to your brother," I said. They both looked slightly confused, "how?" Sollux asked.
"Wwell all I havve to do is call my brother. I just need a conch shell. My dad crushed mine wwhen he abused me..." It took a moment before Karkat nodded and stood up and left the room.
-Karkat's POV-
"Wwell all I havve to do is call my brother. I just need a conch shell. My dad crushed mine wwhen he abused me..." Damn. That's pretty deep. I did have a conch shell, but it's in Kankri's old room. I haven't been in there in weeks, but now that I know my brother is still alive, I guess I could go in. I nodded to Eridan and left to get the shell. I got it off of the shelf in Kankri's room and came back, handing the shell to Eridan.
