Chapter 10: Really?

By the time that we got to the pole, Jack had explained to me what happened between the guardians and Pitch. It was sort of hard to understand because I wasn't there, but I got the gist of the story. I could see the remorse in Pitch's eyes as Jack mentioned what he had done to both Jack's staff and Baby Tooth, no mater how indifferent he tried to look.

I turned around to Jack and Pitch, "Guys, maybe I should go in there and explain what happened to everyone else before you go in?"

"Sounds fair," Pitch responded

"I'm fine with that," Jack agreed

I took a deep breath and flew in through an open window. The guardians all turned to me, asking where Jack was. I held up a finger,

"Guys, I'm going to tell you something, and you all are not going to interrupt me. Okay?" They all nodded, realizing that I was having one of those rare moments where I was dead serious...

"And there you have it..."

Bunny looked at me, then leaned over to North, "So that was what the bright light was on the crystal?"

"What crystal?"

Sandy walked, or floated, up to me and began to sign things above his head, and I'm sure it was a very detailed, thorough explanation, but he signed so fast, I could barely read what he said.

"Sorry Sandy, I don't understand your signs quite yet..." I frowned a bit, but he gave me a reassuring smile and I could tell that it meant "Don't worry you'll get it eventually"

North sighed, "Delilah, there is a crystal that we have in the floor right there," he said, pointing to the metal right in front of the globe,"Manny brings that crystal out when picking new guardian, after showing what we must get prepared to battle."

"Ok..." I said, still not fully understanding what that had to do with anything, "but, should we bring Jack and Pitch in?" I paused, giving Bunny a pointed look, " Can I trust that no one will attack Pitch unless he provokes it?"

He held his hands up in defense, " Don't look at me," he opened his mouth to say something sarcastic (I could tell by the look in his eyes) then, he stopped and stared at the door. I slowly tuned around and saw something really odd- Pitch, the Pitch Black- snuggling an elf-as in hugging the little guy, and he was actually being gentile. I heard Bunny mutter, "Well would 'ya look at that..."

North gave Pitch a curious look, I guess no one has ever seen this side of him before, But who am I to judge? I believe anyone is entitled to keep something a secret if they believe it will protect them in the long run, and I have several different parts of my personality that I'd much rather keep hidden. Tooth passed me a look, noticing my intense stare and sudden silence. Sandy, however seemed to have fallen asleep and didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to the silent conversation that was being passed among all of us.

Jack was creeping up behind me, holding something, I felt it when the air around me got just a bit colder, "Jackson Overland Frost, we all know how this will end if you touch me..." He stopped moving behind me, and I heard him stomp jokingly,

"How the heck do you do that?!"

"Years of practice," I smiled softly, turning around, "and something else I can't quite put my finger on..." I trailed off curiously, because this all did seem extremely familiar to me, like this has happened before- not the whole being immortal and everything that is going on, but avoiding things that come from behind, specifically pranks and buckets of water. I shook the feeling out of my head, putting it in the back of my mind to mull over at a later time.

Looking over to where Pitch was again, I noticed that he wasn't there. I opened my mouth to ask where Pitch went, when I had something disgustingly sticky dumped over my head, accompanied by hysterical laughter. I had gasped looked up to see what it was and who dumped it on me. I heard a panicked "GAH!" overhead, the voice belonged to Pitch, I was going to fly up there (the beam on the ceiling) to kick his butt. However, something hard, what I was assuming to be the bucket that had previously contained the unknown substance hit me on the forehead, and it hit hard. My head started to throb, my vision was getting blurry, or was it going in and out of blurriness? The wold had started to spin and I got dizzy, stumbling I braced myself on a wall. I moaned, "Not this crap again," and clasped a hand to my head, trying to stop myself from fainting.

I head blurs and jumbles of different people trying to get me to talk to them, tying to reach out to me, and I tried to answer back, but I couldn't get the words to form in my brain, it was too focused on wanting to sleep, I think I heard a panicked and jumbled apology somewhere in the mixture of sentences and letters before I stumbled back over to the couch in front of the fire place and sat there rubbing my head, I was so not going to let a bucket knock me out. After around ten minutes of me rubbing my head, my hearing and vision cleared up and I no longer felt the need to sleep, I finally got a good look at what was dumped on me and groaned loudly, "It had to be pink glitter?"

"I see you're still awake," Jack said, handing me an ice pack.

"Hey, I was not going to let a stupid bucket knock me out." I stated, playfully shoving him.

"You do know Pitch is sorry right?"

I rolled my eyes, "Please tell me that he did not tell you to say that when you came over here because he didn't want to apologize..."

"He did." Jack laughed

I heard Pitch call out from the shadows, "I did no such thing!"

I rolled my eyes, "Really?!"

"Yes!"
