Chapter 8: Revenge is Sweet
I sat up from my place in the grass and sighed and thought to myself 'What to do? What to do? What should I do to get back at the snowman...' My mischievous thoughts were interrupted and I was pulled back into realty by Jack flying into the warren and plowing over me, making my head of pink hair slam into the trunk of the cherry blossom tree I was sitting by, making me yell, "What the hell Jack?! What the duck was that for?" I groaned in pain as I rubbed my head, Yep that was gonna bruise...
"Sorry Delilah- I- I flew here- from North's place, racing the Marsupial." he said as he caught his breath, "I think I beat him..." he finally got off of me, looking around for Bunny, "YEAH! I got him!" He yelled in triumph. I was shocked too, because Bunny usually just tunnels between places. And as this came to mind I heard a twig snap in the shadow of a huge cherry blossom tree to the left, Jack the oh so modest person he was didn't hear it over his own victory celebration
So, I 'politely' called out to him "HEY! Snowman!" And that didn't even get his attention, so I decided I had to get his attention another way, and I sneakily scaled the cherry blossom tree and positioned myself on the branch directly over his head and hung upside down on the branch, and as he was mid backflip, I punched him in the gut, making him screw up his flip and fall on the ground face-first, now that his celebration was over, I obnoxiously yelled down, "HEY! SNOW-FOR-BRAINS, I think something's over there, because mid victory dance, I heard a twig snap and the rustling of cherry blossoms in the tree."
This made Jack jump off the ground onto his feet, staff in hand, "let's go check it out," he sighed, "if I landed on the ground face-first because of one of the marsupial's eggs were running around and you were just paranoid, I am going to scream at you and the kangaroo." He then continued to approach the tree, the shadows getting closer with every single step, and just as Jack and I were feet away from the tree, more leaves rustled.
"Please tell me you heard that," I muttered as I turned my necklace into my white coral staff, preparing to strike anything, need be. Jack slowed down and relaxed now that we were in the tree's shadow. I was still alert and ready for anything.
"See, I told you nothing was here." He said happily, and just as that was said I heard another twig snap, and Jack peered up at the tree, "the only thing that could have caused the twigs to break was one of his stinking eggs, come on let's go and wait for the marsupial to get back." He took my hand and started to walk away.
I wasn't even a foot away from where Jack and I stood when I heard the loud sound of a tree branch breaking and a few grunts as something hit each branch on its way down, Jack started to pull me away, but it was too late, I looked up only to see a startled and stunned Bunny falling from the tree, I started to move, but Bunny landed on me and I hit the ground with a thud and hit my head on a rock. in the exact same place on the back of my head that was going to bruise from the blow I took earlier. And that was so excruciatingly painful I just let out the first thing that my mind told my lips to say.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT HURTS! WHY THE FRIDGE WERE YOU EVEN IN THAT TREE?!" Now I was just pissed, after the pain had dulled down to a strong throbbing in my head, and after five minutes of trying to push the rabbit that was three times heavier than he looked, he got off of me, and they both helped me up, Jack put his hand on the back of my head where I had been hit to reduce the swelling when I glared at the rabbit that stood before me, "I want answers. Now."
The marsupial chuckled nervously and started his explanation, "well... I tunneled over here the second Jack left and decided to let him have his self-celebrated victory party, only I had waited here for about half an hour, so I climbed the tree and fell asleep, apparently I snapped a twig later, alerted you, and you guys know the rest only I was asleep again before I fell out of the ruddy tree..." he stated all of this rather quickly, and I could tell he was thoroughly embarrassed, but I understood every word and with great difficulty, retained all of my squeamish giggles that begged to be let out.
