A bomb fell through the ceiling. It laid on the floor ticking. People were around yelling. It's a bomb! It's bomb! run! They rush through the doors. Everyone was scared, except me.
Why run away if it will explode for miles on end, you'll die anyways. What's the point of being panicked for your last few seconds. I watched the bomb as it ticked. Counting down. I sighed and looked in the opposite direction.A woman came over to me. Tick, tick, ticking in the background. She smiled and signaled for me to follow her. We walked outside and sat in the greenest grass. I saw the others running up a hill far away. I couldn't hear the ticking anymore.
We looked at eachother. Her hair was long and blond. It was so pretty. My heart jolted when I saw her tattoo of a bear. The last tick echoed. I heard the loudest pounding ring.
I couldn't hear her words, but I could read her lips as she mouthed "I love you."
Flames engulfed my vision. I woke up. It was only just a dream."Scott." I heard with a knock at the door. "Com'on get ready. We are going to grandma Bontragers in a bit." My dad's voice sounded tired.
I stayed in bed, staring at the blank, white ceiling. I hated going to my grandma bontragers. She's actually my mom's grandma. There is a cousin named Josh over there sometimes and he is so mean.
One time when I was over he practiced his wrestling on me. He picked me up and slammed me down. He did that mainly because I cheated on a game and won -but still it was mean. It hurt my arm and nearly knocked the wind right out of my lungs.
A few years later he got first place in a wrestling tournament at school. But I don't give two shits about him. When we arrived at the old lady's house I saw about five cars. It must be one of those random get together things.
"Well hello." People greeted my dad and I at the door.
"You got bigger, didn't you?" The the oldness said giving me a hug. I barely hugged her because I didn't want to break her; or touch her.
"I suppose." I said behind her back. The scent of cinnamon candles was stuffing the air. I heard loud kids somewhere in the house. I ran to the basement just to be bored. I saw cousins down there. Which is always awkward."Scott! Sup?" Aaron said standing up tall. He's like 19 or something. He is a dad also. Raven came running around the corner obnoxiously screaming "I'M GONNA GO PARANA WHEN I GET YOU!" She chased a little brat named Kailyn up the stairs. The room down there was so hectic.
I walk over to Aaron, "Can we play a game?"
"Sure." He said adjusting his cap. "What do you wanna play?"
"HIDE AND SEEK!" Kaitlyn screeched coming back down the stairs. I officially had a headache."Scott, you count." Aaron said walking up stairs. "Count in the laundry room."
"But I don't want to count..." I went upstairs to the laundry room like he had told me to and started counting."One...two...three...four...fivesixseveneightnineten!...ready or not, here I come!" I came out just to find Kaitlyn standing right in the center of the kitchen.
She screeched and ran off. What the heck. I paced through the house looking under tables and inside cabinets."Found you!" I yelled once I saw a pink sock sticking out from behind the couch. Kaitlyn whined and went outside. Now I just need to find Raven and Aaron. I had an idea that maybe one of them was in the playroom. I crept over past the closed basement door. I froze, trying to hear any sort of movement. It was so silent. The only noise was from the adults conversations.
Then I heard a noise coming rapidly up the steps. Thud, thud, thud thud. I turned around and the basement door swung open so fast it hit me in the face.
"THERE'S A FREAKING GHOST DOWN THERE!" Aaron said shaking, pointing down the dark basement.
Rubbing my bruised forehead I asked "Aren't you too old to believe in ghosts?!"
"I'm not kidding it sounded like crinkling paper! You go down there." Aaron said with a kinda laughing tone. With this much ruckus several adults came into the scene.
"OoOoOoO a ghOoOost. How scary." Aunt Stacy said sarcastically.
"I'll prove it." Aaron lead us down to the bottom of the steps. The last one in shut the door. It was pitch dark. We sat there listening quietly. I didn't hear anything. I couldn't even see whoever was sitting in front of me. I listened intently for the paper."RAAAAWR!" Something hit my shoulders! My spine jumped and I screamed on top of my lungs, making the younger kids scream as well.
"Dude, it's okay." My dad said giggling behind me. "Just me."
People started running back up the stairs. It was kinda funny.
The rest of the day was spent playing basketball once Josh's family arrived. On the car ride home I watched the power lines. They slowly shift up and down between posts. I started to think about the dream I had last night, about the bomb and that lady. I knew that lady. I miss her so much. It made me sad again when I remember that stupid dream. It's like having your heart thrown off a cliff every time you remember it as just a dream.
