when you feel my heat, look into my eyes
it's where my demons hide
don't get too close, it's dark inside
it's where my demons hide
... ... ...
"So you admit? That it was you who killed those men?" Aditya asked, sitting straight.
"Look at me, more carefully," Aryan said.
"What?" If Aditya were being honest, it was making him uncomfortable. "What am I supposed to see?"
"Is dumbass-stupid written on my forehead? Even if I did it, why on earth would I admit that? Get out of my car!"
"You just said what took you so long?" Aditya pressed on.
"Yeah because such a brilliant theory can't happen after one night of drugs, it must be a long, long influence."
"You can brush it off as much as you want, but I'll find out the truth. Just remember that."
"You still have to find out the truth? I thought you already did. I mean the conviction with which you accused me, one would think you have lots of evidence, no?" Aryan mocked. "Oh wait, you are just spreading bullshit, should be in your resume by now, Mr. Tripathi."
"I know this is the truth. I'll prove it too. I'd just like to hear from you."
"Why, you fan of the baritone?" Aryan mocked drily.
"Stop acting so weird, and stop eating," Aditya snapped.
"Okay let me talk practically then. You need to hear it from me because you have zero evidence. You reached that conclusion with your superior power of assumptions."
"And yet I don't see you denying it either," Aditya countered.
Aryan shrugged.
"You did it, didn't you?" Aditya sneered. "It was just like you. Selfish, evil. You made your sister a widow at such a young age. And for what, for more money? You already had money. You killed all those people in cold blood to cover your track. You want to get rid of me too, don't you?"
"If I had plans to kill you, why are you still alive? I had so many chances. You are giving me a headache with your contradictions."
"Fate was on my side because I didn't do anything wrong, unlike those guys. I just reported what I saw. You were in Bangalore jail that day, I thought I saw you but I wasn't sure but then I saw the chocolate wrapper."
"What chocolate wrapper?"
Adi explained to him how he'd seen the same rare chocolate with Imlie that he'd earlier seen in Bangalore.
"You are accusing a very influential person of five murders based on a wrapper? That's your grand evidence. You realize that I can have every child in this city have the same chocolate before you even reach the police station?"
Aditya flushed at the insult. "I wasn't going to show that to the court, of course. But it was for my own conviction that you were there in Bangalore when Suvas got murdered."
"All I'm hearing is you were there in Bangalore jail when Suvas got murdered."
"Don't turn this on me!"
