Imlie had a perception about Aryan and Arpita's Badi Ma from the way the sibling duo always reacted about her. She had a few more assumptions from the time that woman had tried to set up Didi with some loser. But she actually understood what she was really like when she saw Abhay's reaction. The usually chill guy took one look at the gaudily dressed woman and did an about turn. "Sorry boss, I can't. I'm going back, I bet my blood pressure is already high!"

Aryan held the scruff of his neck like a kitten's and made him follow anyway. Abhay started grumbling in a very uncharacteristic fashion.

"Lalla, I see you have filled the house with strays. Is this Rathore House or a dharamshala?" Badi Ma said in a way of greeting.

"Jiji, you here, all of a sudden?" Narmada asked.

"What else am I supposed to do, you and your daughter left like that. I swear I haven't slept a single night since then," she held her face dramatically.

"Is this why all your dark circles are showing?" Arpita scowled. Narmada nudged her. Arpita reluctantly went to touch Neela's feet, and Aryan followed suit.

"Look how thin you have gotten, Lalla. Kyon re chhutki, you don't cook for your son?" She wiped an invisible tear, "if my own son lived near me..."

"Perhaps you can cook for Aru," Arpita suggested, a devilish glint in her eyes.

"Arey nehi Badi Elaichi, where do I have strength for that in my old, weak hands? Oi, man with cats, you are still alive? Shocking, I thought you would be dead by now, eaten by your cats. Are those still alive? Chee!"

Abhay was looking heavenwards, his hands clenched in fists. Badi Ma had once kicked poor Blackjack for no reason at all when she was visiting Mumbai. Abhay's thoughts around her usually revolved between murder and brutal murder since then.

Her eyes fell on hijab-clad Fatima and she scowled so hard that her bindi almost got dislodged. "Now she has to stay here too? In this house?" She said in a dramatic carrying whisper. "Aryan Lalla, you have lost all respect for our family name or what?"

"No, why?" he asked drily, "Explain."

Badi Ma rolled her eyes and turned her focus on Imlie. Narmada held Imlie's arms affectionately, "Jiji, this is our Imlie. I told you about her."

Imlie bent down to touch her feet, "Jai Sita Maiyaa Ki, Badi Ma, how are you?"

The woman frowned, "Don't. I'm not your Badi Ma. Only our family's children call me that."

"Okay, Neela Aunty, I'll keep that in mind."

"Don't take my name! Call me Badi madam. Stay in your aukaat, girl."

"Badi Ma," Aryan argued at once. "Imlie is not an employee here, she's my girlfriend. Why should she call you or anyone madam."

"Chhutki, Ganga itni sukh gayi hai kya? Children living together without marriage, sinning right under your nose, in the family house? Chee! I can't stay here a minute longer."
