Lan Zhan was still in the water, but instead of following, he got on his sword and flew towards the ship.

Xiao Lei, who was looking at the scene, was all ready with their belongings.

When Lan Zhan got on the ship, the first thing he did was take out his qiankun bag. He opened it and took out a talisman.

It was one of Wei Ying's inventions. The talisman would point in the direction of the person whose blood was used for writing the inscription. It had many downsides but for their group of three, it was a lifeline.

After activating the talisman it started to point towards the northeast direction. As soon as they got a direction both Lan Zhan and Xiao Lei got on their swords and flew away, not noticing the pale faces of a few people.

They flew for more than 3 hours but couldn't find any other clue other than the direction pointed by the talisman. Lan Zhan was so focused on finding Wei Ying that he did not consider Xiao Lei's core capacity. It was not until he saw the wobbly flying sword of Xiao Lei that he came to his senses.

Lan Zhan wanted to keep on going but he couldn't leave Xiao Lei all alone. After seeing Xiao Lei's pale face because of exertion, he finally decided to find a piece of land to rest.

"Let's rest for a while." Lan Zhan says after he sees a small island.

"You're overusing your core, this might cause problems afterward. Plus if we keep on going like this you will fall into the ocean because of exhaustion." Lan Zhan says when he sees Xiao Lei trying to refute him.

A small island was soon found and they both descended. Xiao Lei wasted no time and started to meditate after eating a pill. Though it was not a healthy way to recover his qi, they had no other way right now.

While Xiao Lei was busy recuperating, Lan Zhan scouted the forest area for any danger. It was an uninhabited island with nothing but a few flora.

Both were so invested that they did not feel the breath of the unknown man approaching them.

When Lan Zhan returned to the shore after scouting, he was shocked to see a tall man wearing green robes standing near Xiao Lei. He quickly took out his sword to defend them.

The man saw Lan Zhan and quickly spoke with his hands holding up."Whoa...whoa.... stop. I don't mean any harm. If I wanted to harm you, this guy would already be dead." The man pointed at Xiao Lei who was at his arm's length to prove his point.

Though the man did not attack them, Lan Zhan was not willing to jeopardize their safety when the man in question was powerful enough to go unnoticed by him.

"Move away." Lan Zhan warned the man without showing any signs of lowering his sword.

"Why so aggressive? How can you bear to point your sword at such a beautiful man like myself." The man says playfully moving a little further away.

Ignoring the antics of the man Lan Zhan moves in front of Xiao Lei and checks him.

"See! Your companion is all safe and sound right? Can you lower your sword now?"

Without answering, Lan Zhan put his sword back in his sheath. He ignores the man and walks towards the ocean.

"What a bore... Ah! Right! My name is Shen Xinli. What about you?" The man says following Lan Zhan.

[silence....]

"Hey! I'm talking to you. Why don't you answer me? Ya..."

Seeing Lan Zhan not paying any attention to him Shen Xinli muttered in a small voice. "Tsk... what a waste of such a pretty face. I don't know what 'he' sees in him."

Lan Zhan turned a blind eye to Shen Xinli's behavior and started to think about what to do about Wei Ying's disappearance. He felt helpless as the sky had started to turn dark but they still had no other clues.

Shen Xinli was bored after not getting any attention so he threw the stones in his hands and turned back toward the mediating Xiao Lei. He secretly threw a bead that was the size of a pea.

The bead turned into white spots and soon got absorbed by Xiao Lei. Lan Zhan failed to notice this as it took less than 5 seconds for the bead to get absorbed. Shen Xinli smirked and walked away.

Five minutes later, Xiao Lei woke up from his meditation. Unlike other times, he was completely refreshed and full of vitality. He got up and turned around to search for Lan Zhan.

Xiao Lei frowned when he saw an unknown man smiling at him. He broke the eye contact, bowed in his direction, and then turned to walk toward Lan Zhan who was standing alone looking at the sea.

Even when Xiao Lei approached him, Lan Zhan did not look at him.

"Should we start moving?" Xiao Lei asks.

"Are you fine?"

"Yes. I don't know if it's because of the new environment, I feel refreshed with no discomfort of forced exhaustion."

"Maybe if we hurry, we can find those sea creatures that took Wuxian away."

"What sea creatures? Maybe I can help you find them. I do not mean to brag but I know almost all creatures' whereabouts in this area."

A boastful voice interrupted their conversation. No one noticed when Shen Xinli had approached them.

Xiao Lei was unwilling to talk to the strange man and was about to turn down his offer but hesitated as he didn’t know whether the man was telling the truth or not.

Apart from the directions provided by the talisman, they have no other clue so this might be their last chance at finding Wuxian.

"I don't think we have been properly introduced. My name is Xiao Lei and this is my cousin Wangji. How should I address Gongzi?"

"Shen Xinli. My name is Shen Xinli."

"Shen Gongzi, do you have any clue about sea creatures having fish-like tails?"

"Ah! You mean mermaids?"

"Mermaids? I thought they were just folktales"

"No. They are not just folktales, they are real, it's just that in recent years, they have become more secretive. Mermaids are sea creatures with half-man, half-fish-like features. They live deep in the sea and normally don't come out. They don't attack unnecessarily but if provoked they will never back down."

Shen Xinli gave a general idea about mermaids to the two. While he kept on talking, Lan Zhan and Xiao Lei looked at each other with complicated moods.

"So Shen Gongzi, if we swim deep into the ocean, we can find them?" Xiao Lei questions, sounding hopeful.

"Not really. They have a specified region where they build their homes. Just Swimming into the depths will not help."

Listening to this, whatever little hope Xiao Lei had dampens. Lan Zhan and Xiao Lei were so lost knowing this information that they did not see the playful grin forming on Shen Xinli's face.

"It's definitely not easy to find the merman's home in such a vast sea but.... who told me to be so powerful that I know where they live exactly."

Listening to this Xiao Lei became excited and even Lan Zhan showed some emotions in his cold eyes.

"Are you sure, Shen Gongzi?" Xiao Lei asks hoping that he gets a positive answer. Thankfully, he was not let down when Shen Xinli nodded his head.

"I do know where they live. I can also help you find them but.."

"But.. what Gongzi?"

As soon as Xiao Lei finished asking this, Shen Xinli smiled widely showing off his dimples.

"Just let me tag along with you in your adventures from here on."
