Chapter 16

After a week of being in a depressing hospital, I finally get to go home and on Monday, I go back to school. There's only one week left of school so it won't be that bad, I'm not looking forward to seeing Regina though.

Adam drives me home after I say goodbye to my mom, it feels weird leaving her here but I know she's getting better, she has a really good personality. She also said that she'd be interested in meeting with my dad sometime soon. Adam walks me inside the house and I notice the tiny box wrapped in blue paper on the coffee table.

"What's that?"

"Why don't you open it and see?"

Its keys but keys to what? Oh my god, car keys.

"Did you seriously not notice it outside?"

"I was zoned out and notice what?"

"Go see."

I sorta jog outside and see my car parked in the street except- no it couldn't be my car, my car was totaled.

"We kinda all got it for you." Wow they got me a new car, a tear leaks out but for the first time, I'm not ashamed of crying, it's because of happiness. I hug him really hard and tell him thank you so much.

"One more thing and this one is just from me."

"What?"

He gets down on one knee and pulls a ring box out of his pocket and opens it, "Jolene, this is a promise ring, will you be engaged to be engaged to me."

"Yes," I find myself saying yes and unable to say anything else.

"Good caz I'm already wearing mine," I look down at his hand and notice the plain gold ring on his finger.

He stands up and I grab him, pulling him in for a kiss.

"Are you sure?"

"Are you positive?"

Olivia, my mom, my dad, and Adam have all been asking me the same question since Sunday morning.

"Yes, I am a 100 percent positive dad."

"But you got into a wreck sweetie."

"Yes but that was in the past, I'm not going to have some freak out."

"I just worry, ok?"

"I promise I won't get into a wreck tomorrow, that's Tuesday's agenda."

"Jolene, please don't ever joke about that again."

"Okay, dad, I'm sorry."

"Did I tell you that your mom and I are going out on a date tonight?"

"You didn't but she's been talking about it a lot. That's cool that the hospital will let you take her out for 3 hours."

"She's still so beautiful, just like the first time I saw her."

"Well don't you have to go get ready soon since its 4?"

"Yes I do, now are you sure you don't just want Adam to give you a ride."

"I have to drive sometime dad plus I really miss my car."

"Ok, bye. Love you."

"Love you too, bye."

I hang up and look to my side to see Adam shaking his head.

"What?"

"I think it's too soon Jolene."

"No it's not."
