Wishing on Dandelions

Chapter 2

He sees me and walks toward me. Once he reaches me, he surprises me by saying, "Hey Jolene."

"How do you know my name?" How does Adam Riggs know my name?

"After that little scene with Regina, everyone at school knows who you are."

"So much for staying invisible. Wait, were you there the whole time?"

"Yep and you are correct I do not like fake girls. I like them more like you."

Huh? Is he....flirting? No, can't be.

"Thanks, I think. So how much is it?"

"20 dollars," I hand him 25 and he thanks me.

"So why are you here at the inn?"

"Oh, um," I really wish I was better at lying, "My house got sprayed for bugs and we can't stay there tonight because of the fumes," Good job, Jolene, that was actually a surprising good lie.

"Um, you just said that was a suprising good lie."

Grrrrrr! Dang it!

"Then none ya business, bye."

I turn around and head into the hotel. I reach the room and eat all of the food except for two pieces of pizza, it's a mystery why I'm skinny since I eat like a pig and barely exercise. Should I go to school tomorrow? I have to, if I skip, it will show weakness, but after school I'm so going to the mall. The mall is 30 minutes out of town, everywhere else near here is 15 minutes away.

I wake up to the alarm on my phone, 5:30. I get up and take a shower and blow dry my hair with the blow-dryer attached to the wall. I quickly eat my leftover pizza, cold pizza is the best. After brushing my teeth and applying my daily eye makeup, I put on the clothes I brought with me and pack the rest of my belongings back in my duffel bag. I leave the inn at 6:40 and drive towards my house; I jump out of my car and run upstairs to my room. I throw the duffel bag on my floor and grab my visa gift card from my floorboard stash. My mom doesn't care about me but she does give money every now and most of the time I save it but sometimes I just put it on visa gift cards. This one has 500 dollars on it, I stick it in my wallet and cover it up with my student ID, and then head back out to my car. Once I'm in my car, I threw my wallet in my messenger bag and start driving toward school.

I reach school and pull into a parking space next to an old Chevy truck. I check my phone for the time, 7:15. I have 10 minutes to get to class. I open the door to enter the building and am greeted by people clapping. Why are they clapping? I do a double take and when I don't see a celebrity or jocks, I realize that they're clapping for me. Maybe being invisible won't be so bad after all...
