Midoriya didn't know what to say. He knew that there had to be a reason his father never came back to them and why the letters his mother showed him had stopped, but he had hoped it was that the pack was preventing contact or even the elders. And yet even after him and his mother left the clan, they never heard from him. Midoriya felt that once he was of age, he would find him and demand answers, yet even that had been pushed off with the increased monster attacks and other things going on around the Capital.

It wouldn't have mattered though, his father had died. He would never know that his son was , n fact ,  wolf shifter like him and not a non shifter bastard child that everyone assumed he was.

"You asshole, you could have just said that instead of playing this game," Bakugou fumed.

He took a step forward, and the guards that had led them to the room took a few steps to pull him back. Before anyone could do anything, however, Midoriya spoke.

"Kacchan," he said quietly, "it's fine. May I at least visit his grave?"

There was a pause. Bakugou looked between the pack leader and Midoriya, prepared to argue. The rest of the people in the room stayed quiet, wondering what their pack leader would do, ince they knew he was not a nice person generally.

"Fine, I will allow this. I will send for someone to escort you there. Afterward, you are to leave immediately." The pack leader huffed out and then left the room.

"Thank you," Midoriya said.

While the two were waiting, their belongings were returned to them, and the cuffs removed with the promise to behave. Soon , a new person, a man slightly older than them, arrived to show them to Hizashi's grave. They were led out of the building and through the village. Many of the people stopped to watch the strangers, and quiet discussions could be heard as they passed. It was uncommon for outsiders to be let in. Even when the two were led outside the village, people stood and muttered to each other.

On the outskirts of town, a plot of land was fenced off and little buildings were built to house the remains of the dead. It was here that Midoriya and Bakugou stopped at one of the small buildings to see many large black urns in cubby-holes just big enough for the jars to fit in, each with a hand-carved plaque of the person's name.

"I was told you have come to visit Hizashi, he is in this one." the man said, pointing to one of the urns. The man then left to stand some feet away to give them privacy.

Midoriya stared at the black urn and the simple plaque that had his father's name. Seeing incense and matches on a table nearby, he grabbed one, placing it in the holder and lighting it as he said a short prayer. Soon a second one joined it from Bakugou. A few tears fell from Midoriya's eyes, quickly wiped away before they made it far. Other than a few sniffles, it was quiet around them, even the wind was absent.

"Do you know how he died?" Midoriya asked, turning to the man, who looked stunned at being talked to at all.

"Yes, but it is a sad story to tell." the man said, looking down.

"Please, I need to know." Midoriya pleaded.

The look in the man's eyes showed that he was conflicted, but ultimately decided to go ahead and tell the two what happened that day.

"When the pack left from the eastern lands they didn't go straight here to the north, instead they traveled for a bit and other wolves joined up with them as the Eastern Pack Alpha wanted to gather others and then have a wolf only village. I was one of those who joined at the time with my parents. The current pack leader was also someone who joined during that time. Soon, we made our way to these lands, the first year we built houses for everyone and planted crops that would grow during the summer, and thankfully there was plenty of wildlife that could be hunted. It wasn't easy, but the new pack survived. Alpha Takashi made sure everyone had what they needed, and life became normal again. Or so we thought." The man stopped to take a breath, his thoughts going back to a day that he wished never happened.
