"If nobody did ask mi, mi woulda tell dem seh yuh dead, cause right now mi deh yah a wonder how you just show up suh...wid a baby at that." My mother said to me; being the overly dramatic person that she is.
What she's saying is true though, because I really haven't been in touch with them and now here I am...literally showing up out of the blue.
"Mi deserve all the cussing inna the world, I know and mi nah try fi justify that I basically ghosted you guys, but the main reason was because I wanted to find a way to take care of our family and let's just say I haven't been living the best life in order to achieve that."
Mommy looks at me for a while, but then her eyes shifts to a quiet Nyelah. She's just there occupying her time with her hand; that seems to be the most interesting thing to her right now.
Mommy's eyes soften when she sees her grand baby.
"What's her name?" She's asks, changing the topic. I knew she would come back to it later, she's just choosing to rest it now.
"Nyelah Wynter Raines."
Yes I gave her wynnie's name.
"Awww, that's absolutely beautiful." Mommy begins to coo at her, and surprisingly Nye starts giggling and she hardly does that with people she's not used to.
I guess that's just the touch of a grandmother. Watching all this unfold makes me smile, I just wish Daddy was here. Then again maybe if he was I wouldn't have her.
