I had Home Economics with Rodrick. It was torture. I always hoped to have no classes with him. This year has already been the worst out of my all high school years. I have 4 classes with Rodrick this year.

Home econ was probably the easiest class. We are faced/learn real life issues we will one day experience. For our project we had to pick a major world issue and make a presentation on it. I was assigned to present today. Presentations were not my strong suits which is surprising with me being class president and all. I get super nervous talking infront of people.

During the second week of school Rodrick was moved to the front of the class. Surprise huh? As I was mid presentation I look his way he then looks at me, pretending to yawn and fall asleep. This guy is impossible. Chris nudged him in the arm and whispered something in his ear.

When Rodrick moved up front Chris did as well, with Rodrick being his only friend in that class.

<Time skip>

Jenny: hey y/n can Chris come to lunch with us? Rodrick totally ditched him
Y/n: yeah ofc, so what do you guys feel like eating?
Chris: honestly I'm down for whatever
Jenny: OOO some pizza sounds good!
Chris: yeah we can go to papas pizza!
Y/n: alright sounds good!

We all get in the car and I start driving to papas. It wasn't too far from school, about a 12 minute drive. Jen called in our order on our way there so we wouldn't wait so long.

We get to papas and we pick where to sit. We decided on a small booth next to the window. Chris goes to the register to pay and ask for our order

Chris: bon appetit!

Chris places the pizza on the table. We got half pepperoni and half pepperoni and sausage. Chris's favorite is the pepperoni and sausage while Jenny and I like just pepperoni.

Jenny: "so y/n how'd your presentation go?"
Y/n: "good besides uh well.."
Jenny: well..what?
Y/n: "Chris I'm sorry i know you're his friend but I need to rant"
Chris: "no y/n it's totally fine get it out of your system"
Y/n: "thank god! Omg Jen so there I am presenting and you already know how anxious i get. I Look over to my right, and guess who's there mocking me. RODRICK ugh he looked at me in the eyes pretending to yawn and fall asleep. Can you believe that? He's so unbelievable."
Jenny: "WOAH WOAH calm down y/n I know you're upset but he just does that stuff to push your buttons. Isn't that right Chris?"
Chris: " oh huh, yeah yeah definitely"

It was obvious Chris was totally in his own world. I'm sure Chris gets annoyed of me talking, ranting about Rodrick every time he's around. He never complains though so I guess he doesn't get that annoyed?

We didn't finish the pizza so Chris decides to take it as a "mid afternoon snack" or whatever. We get in the car and start heading back to school.

My last period is science and it's absolute TORTURE. My dumb lab partner is Rodrick. Mr. Philips wouldn't let us pick or let me switch. He says I'll be a good influence on Rodrick. Yeah whatever he's helpless.

Today in science we had to dissect a squid. I was not looking forward to that. I walk into class and Rodrick is already at our station examining the squid.

Y/n: "uh so are you like ready? Or are you still admiring the squid?"
Rodrick: "oh so what do i owe this pleasure? Is y/n actually talking to me or am I dreaming?"

I try to ignore and have as little communication with Rodrick and it seems like he's noticed. Jen is always telling me being paired up with him is some type of "faith" That it's been about 7 years ago since the talent show incident, that it's the universe trying to get me to finally forgive Rodrick. Yeah no, over my dead body he absolutely humiliated me.

Y/n: "don't flatter yourself Heffley. I'm bound to talk to you at some point. Sadly" i mumbled
Rodrick: "well get to it ms president."
Y/n: "you mean cut that thing open? Yeah no thanks that's all you. I'll do the paper."
Rodrick: "suit yourself"

He picks up the little knife and starts making a deep incision. All the insides on the squid are now visible. Rodrick now starts taking out each intestine, putting them on the tray next to the opened up squid. After filling out the diagram of the squid and it's intestines we turn them in and sit for the remainder of class.

Rodrick pulled out his drum sticks out of his back pocket and started to "drum" on the desk. He started quiet and then he progressively started getting louder. It was aggravating.

Y/n: "GEEZ RODRICK CAN YOU STOP
Rodrick: "geez yourself, I'm practicing just don't listen to me."
Y/n: "that's impossible when you're not even sitting 2 feet away from me. Just stop I'm sure you'll have time to practice later with your dumb band"
Rodrick; "dumb band? I will like to inform you ms president we have a gig this Friday. And we keep getting gigs."
Y/n: "so I've heard, just stop okay please for the love of god stop."
Rodrick: "yeah yeah anything to make ms president happy, you're such a goodie goodie."
Y/n: "I AM NOT"
Rodrick: "ARE TOO"

Then the bell rang. Finally school is over, this class is over. Thank god i don't have to see him until tomorrow.

Y/n: "AM NOT"

Rodrick stands up picking up his stuff and as he walks out he says

Rodrick: "ARE TOO"

Ugh he's so aggravating.

I walk to my car to see that Jen is not in there waiting for me. I decide to call her up just to make sure she didn't have to stay after class.

<on the phone with Jenny 🤞>
Y/n: "hey Jen where are you?"
Jenny: "oh um y/n I'm catching a ride with Rodrick, I'm gonna hang with him and Chris. Sorry"
Y/n: *sighs* "no no it's okay Jenny have fun!"
Jenny: "you know you can come if you want"
Y/n; "funny joke. Yeah no thank you I want to keep my brain cells not lose them"
Jen: "y/n sooner or later you have to get over your little rivalry with Rodrick."
Y/n: "and that won't be today"
Jenny: "okay y/n whatever bye love ya, I'm sorry again!"
Y/n: "bye love ya, don't be sorry have fun!"
<call ended with Jenny 🤞>

<Time Skip to dinner>

Tonight we were having a lazy dinner since dad was out of town. Mom ordered Chinese takeout. Her, my brother Rob and I ate in the living room watching a movie. It was my turn to pick and I picked grown ups one of my favorites!

Mom: "so y/n don't freak okay? But today i was talking to Mrs Heffley at yoga and well.."
Y/n: "well? What mom just spill it out"

I knew this wasn't gonna be good news but I needed to hear what it was

Mom: "well I guess Rodrick has been having some car problems and she was wondering if you'll be okay with taking him to school."

The bus doesn't stop at our neighborhood since it isn't too far from school.

Y/n: "ugh you got to be kidding me can't he just like walk?" And I don't wanna take his brother too"
Mom: "no I'll take Greg since he and Rob are both in middle school. You'll just be taking Rodrick."
Y/n: "doesn't he like have friends that drive?"
Mom: "yes but you taking him will just be more convenient sweetheart please understand if not for Mrs Heffley then for me."
Y/n: "fine"

You've got to be kidding me. And I thought this school year couldn't get any worse it just did. It's gonna be filled with even more Rodrick then ever.
