Ariella (pronounced AR-EE-ELLA) P.O.V.

"Stop mom, please." I tried to tell her calmly knowing yelling and crying would only ignite the flame in her. The cold-hearted lady techinically called my, "Mom," was pummeling my stomch as if it was only a pillow or play toy. She took her thick painful stiletto heels and drove them into my stomach a few times. She reaked of cheap beer but I tried to keep ok as I was crouched onto the ground, curled into a half circle. I felt the woman stop kicking me. I gasped for breath breathing hard feeling the sore pain on my stomach I began coughing up small amounts of blood, nothing nearly as bad as that time long ago. I felt cold wet liquid hit my cheek and splash where it ended up on the side of my face. Spit. Beer spit. The spit of my mother's hatred for me.

"Shut up." she shouted from above me. I then heard her stumble out of my room trying to make her drunk self walk as straight as possible but I could tell she wasn't doing that well. I thought to myself thinking on that cold cheap carpet floor, why did I deserve this?

When I woke up I slowly brought myself up from the pain. To come to a morning realization of another pain, highschool. And just so you have a knowing I'm a junior, well a new junior you could say since it was the first day of highschool. I groaned as I checked myself in the mirror, a filthy girl. I saw red eyes, a bruised stomach as I lifted my shirt, and my hair was a mess. I popped myself into the cold shower, since my mom decided to forget to pay for heated water. The water trickled down my body and I could see now the bruise very clear and a purple blackish color against my tanned skin.

I went to go ahead and pick out an outfit, but since everything seemed like it would just expose my bruise I headed towards my comfortable maroon sweatshirt, denim shorts, and black converse. I combed my fingers through my hair quickly, the brown light waves smoothed out a little nicer now. Looking to the mirror, content with how I looked I began to make my way out soundlessly. My mom was passed out on the couch, beer bottles and caps surrounding her. She was a pretty woman, just one with bad intents. She didn't wake up luckily and I swung my old backpack across my shoulder. Outside would be where my ride would be, my best friend Derek, was parked out in the front. I quickly shut the door just in case he could see inside and ran over to greet him. His now newly cut blonde hair was out of his eyes as they crinkled when he smiled to me.

"Derek, hey how are you?" I told him as I scooted myself into his small car filled with bags from Mcdonalds.

"That's all I get after that long in not seeing you, please you should be all over me." he smiled looking forward as we drove down the long winding street. I just gave a laugh to him. Derek had been my bestfriend freshman year when we found out we had both liked the same bands, songs, and everything with music which made us close. And no to be clear, we do not have a love for each other. Derek has a girl he trying to get right now, which of course will be simple because he has general good looks like a popular guy at high school and a carefree attitude. He had always been such an easy person to be around unlike myself but opposites attract. Although for myself, I had no one I really had a crush on so far. I'd rather not have someone involved with me and my problems. And that's another thing, Derek doesn't know about my problems. No one does, which is fine for me.

"So are you excited for junior year Ariella?! We are going to have so much fun party hopping together!" he exclaimed mocking a girl's voice. I gave a laugh and turned to him raising my eyebrows.
