George's pov

Poppy and I were quietly dancing to the music, the warmth in her eyes had me completely mesmerised. She leaned in, her voice barely audible amidst the room's noise.

"Can we go get some fresh air?" she suggested, her face flushed from the room's high temperature.

"Lead the way!" I replied with a smirk. Poppy moved forward, her fingers intertwined with mine.

We walked through the empty hallways until we reached a grand balcony. Stepping out, the cool night air provided a welcome relief from the suffocating heat of the ballroom. Poppy let out a contended sigh as she inhaled the fresh air.

"Wow!" she gasped, her gaze drawn to the captivating sight of the moonlight's reflection on the surface of the Black Lake below. "The view from up here is magnificent!"

I moved closer, my fingers gently tracing the curve of her cheek as I looked into her eyes. "So are you - Poppy Sweeting!" I declared, my voice full of honesty. "You are the sweetest girl in Hogwarts!"

Leaning in, I closed the distance between us, our lips meeting in a soft, gentle kiss. We lost ourselves in the warmth of each other's embrace, our hearts beating as one.

As the cold night air pierced through our skin, I noticed Poppy shivering slightly. Without hesitation, I took off my coat and draped it around her shoulders, the cloth offering a comforting shield against the frosty wind.

"Here, that should make you feel better" I said, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.

"Thank you" she replied, her voice sweet like honey. I could not help but smile at the sound of it, feeling a surge of warmth flooding my chest.

Leaning against the balcony railing, we reminisced about our past adventures together. The sound of our quiet conversation blended with the soft rustle of the night breeze. I could listen to her talk for hours.

"Should we head inside?" I finally suggested, offering her my hand in a silent invitation.

"Yes" Poppy nodded, her gaze lingering on the beautiful scenery before us. "It's so nice out here though," she remarked as she stood up and held my hand.

Garreth and I left the ballroom in search of an empty, isolated space to make out. We moved cautiously, our footsteps echoing quietly along the dungeon halls.

"Over there!" Garreth whispered, his hand pointing towards a closed door.

"But it's unlocked, what if someone's already in there?" I hesitated, a flicker of doubt sneaking into my head. The last thing I need is to get caught by a Professor that late at night.

Garreth reached for the door handle and with a little push, the door creaked open. We both jumped, startled by what we saw inside.

"Ominis?" I stammered, the shock in my tone mirroring my disbelief.

I froze at the sight; Ominis Gaunt was in this dark room kissing

I froze at the sight; Ominis Gaunt was in this dark room kissing...Grayson McNeil. I had to double check to make sure my eyes were not playing a trick on me.

Before I could gather my thoughts, a familiar voice broke the heavy silence of the room. "Ominis?" George's words echoed, his eyes wide with surprise. Poppy stood beside him, her expression seemingly confused.

Ominis' face flushed red with embarrassment as he realised he had been caught. Rapidly, he drew his wand, and with its red spark as his guidance, he exited the rom.

"Ominis, wait!" George shouted and followed him.

Ominis kissing Grayson? I did not even know these two got along. Was that the notorious Ominis' secret that Jess kept on mentioning?

I walked into the room and closed the door behind me, leaving Garreth and Poppy outside. Grayson looked less ashamed, but the discomfort was visible on his face as well.

"Grayson, I know you're probably not in the mood to talk right now, but I just wanted you to know that I'm here for you" I said, trying to offer him some comfort.

Without responding, Grayson pulled me into a hug before leaving the room. As he passed Garreth, I could see the guilt in their exchanged glances. Garreth stepped inside, his expression filled with regret.

"It's my fault – an now I've outed them to all of their friends" he stated, his brows furrowed with genuine distress.

"Garreth that's not true – you couldn't have possibly known that they're in here" I reassured him, squeezing his hand gently. "Don't worry, everything's going to be okay" .

Leaning in I kissed him and then we returned to the ballroom.

Jessica's pov

The distant echo of George's voice calling out for Ominis filled the quiet empty corridors. Sebastian and I stopped kissing, our attention drawn to a running Ominis, with George right behind him.

"Ominis! George!" I shouted but without success.

We hurried after them, navigating through the dark hallways in search for them. The sound of their footsteps stopped right outside the Slytherin Common Room and by the time we arrived there, they were already inside.

"Don't worry I'll talk to them" Sebastian reassured me, trying to catch his breath from all the running. He leaned in and kissed me goodnight before disappearing into his Common Room, leaving me standing there, wondering what had just transpired.

I returned to the Gryffindor Common Room and sat by the window, my mind still in shock from the unexpected kiss with Sebastian. Was this one of his tricks to benefit from me again? Sebastian always made things confusing.

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted when Natty appeared before me, tears glistening in her eyes.

"Natty! – Hey, Natty, what's wrong?" I questioned with concern.

"Leander told me George and Poppy were kissing tonight" she blurted out, her voice thick with emotion.

My heart sank as I looked at her compassionately. She had never admitted her crush on George before, but I knew her well enough to realise that she had feelings for him.

"You knew about it, didn't you?" her words crushed me, and I struggled to find the right a response.

"I'm sorry Natty" I murmured sympathetically, feeling the guilt building within me.

"You didn't even feel the need to tell me about it – I always thought you were my best friend" Natty expressed; her eyes were teary and red.

"Natty, of course, I am – I understand that you are..." I tried to explain myself, but she stopped me.

"Don't bother – I would have told you if Sebastian was seeing someone else" she declared and with that she retreated upstairs.

Her words broke me into pieces, each a painful reminder of my shortcomings as a friend. I hugged my knees and started crying, as I glanced out the window. I'm such a horrible friend; I knew all about George and Poppy's date tonight, in fact I even helped her pick her dress I thought by not mentioning anything, I was protecting Natty from getting hurt.

Apart from that, I've been failing to find out what was happening to Ominis for a month and tonight I missed my chance, because I let myself be manipulated by Sebastian once again. And Hector...I left him in the ballroom without any explanation.

After a quick shower, I crawled into bed, my sadness deepening each second. Natty was sleeping or at least she was pretending to be. As I closed my eyes, the tears continued to fall until I finally fell asleep.
