George's pov
I woke up the next morning by the sunrays, softly lighting up the dormitory. I noticed that Sebastian's bed was still empty, were they not back from France yet? I stood up and put on my Slytherin uniform, made my way to the bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth, getting ready for the day.
I had barely got any sleep last night, my mind could still not process what happened. Poppy, my Poppy had casted the Cruciatus curse! How did that happen? Is it because of me? Am I a bad influence on her? Am I corrupting her? Or did she react instinctively, because she knew I was in danger?
"See someone's not afraid of the Dark Arts" I could still remember her words during our fifth year, when I had casted the Cruciatus curse myself on some Poachers who had restrained a poor dragon.
I splashed a good amount of cold water on my face to get my mind off these thoughts and walked out the Slytherin Common Room. Soon, I reached the Great Hall; I peered slowly around the crowded room, hardly spotting a sitting Ominis on the Slytherin table.
"Good morning Ominis!" I tapped him lightly on his shoulder.
"Morning George!" Ominis said with his mouth full. I sat next to him and put a few croissants on my plate; I was starving!
"Where's Sebastian and the others?" Ominis asked once he swallowed his bite.
"No clue, they have returned yet" I replied while scanning the room, looking for Grayson, Jessica or Mia.
"Oh no! I knew something bad was going to happen" Ominis expressed anxiously.
"You needn't worry Ominis, I'm sure they'll be here soon" I attempted to comfort him.
"Hello boys, I need your help!" Adelaide approached our table and sat on the opposite side of us.
"What is it?" I questioned coldly.
"So my friend Lenora is interested in your friend Grayson and I thought it'd be nice to hook them up" Adelaide's words made Ominis' worrying face flush red from anger.
"Now's not the time, Adelaide!" I tried to cut the conversation short.
"You know – you've changed since you started dating Sweeting" she gave me an annoyed gaze.
"Don't be mean Adelaide, it doesn't suit you" I replied.
"Is that so?" Adelaide winked at me, clearly trying to flirt with me.
"Good morning" Sacharissa chimed in.
"Sacharissa good to see you!" I smirked "Do you know where Poppy is?"
"Oh Poppy, she's in the History of Magic classroom, preparing an assignment with Andrew" Sacharissa said.
How is it possible that she has been working on this stupid assignment for that long? I clenched my fists so hard, I almost broke the glass I was holding. Sacharissa proceeded to talk about her new creams.
"Congratulations Sacharissa, but Ominis and I have this thing" I interrupted her, making up an excuse as I grabbed Ominis by the hand and hastily left the Great Hall.
I made my way to the History of Magic class, I had no idea what I was planning to do, or why I was even searching for them in the first place, but Poppy skipping breakfast just so she could work on an assignment seemed suspicious to me. Ominis was trying to follow me, but I was walking too fast, he could not keep up for long. I finally reached the class and pushed the door open. I looked inside the room and saw Andrew leaning in attempting to kiss Poppy; they were only a few inches away.
"What the fuck Poppy?" I yelled once I entered the room, hoping that my eyes were playing a trick on me.
"George?" Andrew let out surprised.
I raised my wand and used Ancient Magic to levitate Andrew dropping him on a nearby desk, I wanted him as far away from Poppy as possible. He stood up and drew his wand.
"Stupefy" he shouted, casting the spell towards me, which was easily blocked by my Protego.
"Is that all you got?" I laughed.
"George stop!" Poppy screamed, but I could not contain my anger; rage was pulsing through my veins.
"Expelliarmus" I casted, disarming Andrew. Luckily for him, Madam Scribner entered the room. She must have heard our screams.
"What is going on in here?" she asked strictly.
"Madam Scribner...we" Poppy tried to explain, but was stopped by the librarian.
"I don't want to hear it! After you clean this mess, I am expecting all three of you in Monday's detention" Madam Scribner said while furrowing her eyebrows. I gave Andrew a threatening look, seemingly intimidating him and then I exited the room letting him deal with this mess on his own.
"George!" I heard Poppy running behind me, but I did not even bother turning around. She caught up to me, and stood right in front of me blocking my way with her body.
"George talk to me, please!" she let out.
"What's there to say Poppy? You've made your choices" I said calmly, while getting her out of my way.
"What are you saying? What choices have I made? Nothing happened" Poppy started yelling in the middle of the corridor.
"I've got to go" I replied, maintaining my relaxed tone as I left for the Quidditch court without looking back. For a few seconds, I felt like my temper was taking control, but I knew a training session would help me tame it. There was no point in carrying on with this absurd conversation in front of all these students, who were more than ready to start new gossip about us.
