I couldn't believe I was saying this, but I missed Victor. Not because there were romantic feelings involved, or because I was once again without a sex partner, but simply because I got used to our evenings together. Sex was a nice bonus, particularly because we were so compatible with each other that it was almost unreal. But our dates, chatting away, having a meal and a few drinks, watching a movie here and there, it was all really addictive. And now, when it was all gone, I was feeling under the weather.

I knew we agreed to be friends and go out to get a couple of drinks from time to time, but it wouldn't be as frequent as it used to be, especially if he managed to get together with his friend. If I was in Nelson's shoes and my new lover kept seeing his ex-friend with benefits, I wouldn't be exactly thrilled. And based on Victor's determination and all of his planning I saw a week ago when he was getting ready to chase Nelson down, it was more than probable they would end up together. The last time I saw Nelson, he was still head over heels in love with Vic. It was obvious at first glance. He would be a complete idiot not to grab the opportunity once Victor managed to talk to him.

I sighed, looking over the paperwork in front of me. Today was one of the days where I was at work but had to stay half of the day in the office to go through some updates and new requirements some of our partners sent us. I hated those with a burning passion. This time, it was even worse because I did all of my deliveries in the morning and was left with nothing but boring nonsense until the end of my shift. The option where we did the boring in the morning was always better.

"Are you even listening to me, Dale?" Luci asked, frowning at me from behind her desk. We were currently going over a renewed contract with several changes, and considering it was our fourth one within three hours, I was starting to tune out a little.

"No, actually. I need a short break. My brain's not braining right now." I stood up, waiting for her acknowledgment. I needed a cup of coffee before I could start absorbing another wave of information.

"Should I be worried?" she asked, looking me up and down with her hawk eyes. Sometimes, she knew shit about us before we knew them, which was creepy as hell.

"Nah. It's just been too many words within such a short period of time. I need to rest for a couple of minutes."

Before I managed to leave her office, I found myself frozen on the spot when she spoke up again.

"Would you feel better if I changed the person in charge for Vison?" It took me a good minute before I realized what she was actually saying. Turning around, I gaped at her. I had no idea where this came from, but it was way over the top.

"No way! Why are you even asking that?"

She gave me one of her I'm-worried-about-you-but-you're-just-dumb looks.

"Well, you've been somehow off in the past few days, and you mentioned your relationship with Victor McNemara is no more. Meeting your ex at work can be taxing and unpleasant." At that, I burst out laughing.
