With the Chaotix:

"And how did we find this place again?" Charmy asks. "Will you actually listen this time if I tell you?" He shakes his head quickly as Vector asks, eager to hear it again. "Belle was kidnapped by Starline, and if we don't get her back, he could learn some very very bad things from her, or her robotics." "Uuuuuhhh, who's Belle again?" Vector facepalms. "You're killing me kid." Espio chuckles at their antics, but suddenly becomes very cautious as they see a large building over the horizon.

"We're almost there, you guys ready?" Vector asks the others. Espio nods, and Charmy speaks very loudly. "I'm always ready to explore new places!" Vector flinches away, and looks back at Charmy. "What've I told you about SCREAMIN IN MY EAR!?" Charmy scratches his head, looking a bit remorseful. "Sorry Vector!"

Y/N pov:

"Who are you?"

The puppet asks. I ignore her question, looking at her. Her face absolutely brimming with emotion. Her eyes are darting around the room, surveying her surroundings. Her mouth is quivering, and she's breathing quickly. She's trying to break out of the restraints holding her down, but she's not strong enough, making her panic even more. I smile as I look at her. "An absolute marvel of technology! What is your processing unit? An advanced AI?" She doesn't even look at me as she speaks. "I-I don't know..." I smile even more as she says that, absolutely thrilled to find out fir myself. 'Well, perhaps I could take you apart, and find out what-"

"No! Professor, we are not here to scrap the thing, I just need the files it has, I can't do that if the thing is in pieces!" I put up my hands in a surrendering motion. "Fine fine, forgive me your highness." I say sarcastically. He sighs and walks over to the puppet, plugging something into her head. Her eyes flash a bright white, and she lays back down on the table.

It's interesting, watching someone once so full of life just slump over and lay there.

The screen above her turns on, and I see tons of information flash past the screen, and a small loading bar appears, quickly filling. "So, is she still alive?" Starline nods. "Yes, the machine is still operating." I look over at him, narrowing my eyes.

"You don't see her as a person, do you?"

He looks a bit annoyed that I even asked. "No, I do not believe 'she' is a person, it is a machine, built to accomplish a task, as any machine is. That task is yet unclear though, maybe we'll find out after I comb through the data." I sigh, and sit down in a nearby chair. "Come now Starline, I know you have a heart, maybe a small-"

Suddenly, we hear a loud bang from across the room, and we both turn to look at the door. A small dent is now present in the middle of it, and voices can be heard on the other side. "How did they find me so quickly!? I took every precaution! I-" Starline suddenly looks over at me. "You! Did you lead them here!?" I look at him, relatively confused. "What? No! Why would I do that?" He stands over me, looking very angry. "You lead them here, I know you did!"

I push him away and stand up, significantly taller than him. "Friend, I've been a lot of things in my life, but a snitch has never been one of them. So don't let me hear you say that ever again, got it?" Starline backs against a table, and nods silently. Then we hear another bang at the door, and the puppet on the table suddenly wakes up from her dormant state, looking around wildly.

She looks over at the two of us, then to the door, then back at us. "Oh, this is the worst!" She cries out, clearly panicking. After some flailing, she steps in her own tail, which seems to cause her to kick her leg. Curiously though, she seems to hit something, even though I can only see thin air. Then, a bottle of something falls off of a small cart near where she kicked. I then hear her cry out again as she looks at something. "Great! There are ghosts here too!" I look around near the cart, and I see an indentation in the air, like something is there, just transparent. A transparent person, but how? "O-Oh... no, you're one of the detectives..." I hear the puppet say to the thin air, as if she can see someone in front of her.

I follow the outline, and see that it looks like a person, just not visible. Like how a chameleon can... Oh boy. I then realize that it really is a person, and look over to Starline.

"Starline, someone's here with us!"

"Where!? I can't see anyone!" I grab a metal cup near one of the keyboards, and throw it at the outline, hearing a pained grunt from that direction. The water in the cup splashes onto the person, and I can see the outline much more clearly. As they look around, I see an actual body appear where the outline once was, revealing a chameleon, just as I suspected.

As if on queue, the metal door flies off its hinges, revealing a huge Crocodile and... a Bee? Wonder what he brings to the team.

"Starline! We finally got you! Wait, who's the new guy?" I narrow my eyes at him. "New guy? Really?" The Bee then speaks up, sounding very upbeat and happy despite his efforts to seem tough. "We finally found your secret hideout!" Starline laughs as he says that. "Foolish child, you think this is my HQ?" The bee looks a bit embarrassed. "Well I did... until you said it like that." Seems the Bee doesn't necessarily bring any brains to the team, to be sure.

As I sit there, watching all of this happen, I can only wonder to myself, why did I think things would go well? Walking into a decrepit, abandoned building, to meet a former co-worker, now villain in hiding, just for a job opportunity...

Great thinking.

A/N: Now, I know I said that I would post more, and I know that it was a lie. I don't even have an excuse, I just didn't want to write for a while. So very sorry about that.

With that being said, thank you all for over 1.6k reads on this story! Even with me being gone for so long, seems this story is decently popular, so thanks a lot!
