Queen Glory

It was a calm sunny day.

Queen Glory of the Rainwings and Nightwings lay calmly outside on her pavilion, filling out paperwork as she let the gentle sounds of the rainforest- laughter, water, and quiet ambience- fill her ears.

The light softly filtered down from the treetops, bouncing off the leaves and whatever reflective surface around. Silver, Glory's pet sloth, clung tightly to the space between her neck and shoulder, comfortably asleep. Deathbringer, her husband and bodyguard, wasn't far from her spot on the pavilion.

Furrowing her eyebrows as the words she was reading, she changed her position to a more comfortable one. It seems like the Nightwings wanted reform again. Sighing to herself and signing off another scroll, she set it to the side, giving another shuffle.

Finally, she couldn't stand it anymore, and got up. "I'm going for a bit of a fly around. Don't follow me, Deathbringer. Just take my stuff back to The Tree Fort."

The Nightwing in question only gave her a cheeky smile, as if to say, "No promises," but Glory knew that he still respected her space. She just couldn't stand still for long up there, it was always too stuffy. She would have to arrange different flowers to be planted next year, the pollen from the current ones were suffocating.

Winding between the trees, she allowed herself time to think- well, think about things other than paperwork. Eventually, her mind drifted towards her stomach.

She was hungry.

She is with eggs but right now, that's besides the point.

She was still hungry.

It's been a long time since she had some good steak. Salad would be nice too. She sighed, before remembering that she promised to be back soon. Turning back, she gently touched down on the pavilion- before almost running directly into one of her advisors, a Nightwing named Sequence.

"Sorry!" exclaimed Sequence in a rush, "I wasn't paying attention, my Queen, I should've been more careful."

Glory chuckled in reply. "It's quite alright Sequence. Where are you headed at this time of day? We have a meeting with the rest of the Queens in a couple of hours, we should be nearly ready to host it."

Sequence seemed taken aback by the information.

"Oh yes! I was going to check in with Pineapple on security measures," she said after blinking a few times, referencing the head of guard.

"No need," spoke the queen, "I'll have Deathbringer do it. I need you to oversee the decorating of the villages to ensure the other Queens' warm welcome."

An expression that Glory couldn't quite pinpoint flashed across Sequence's face before it was replaced by a brilliant smile.

"Of course my queen!" she exclaimed, "I'm honoured, thank you!"

"It is no problem. May I have the plans for the meeting room?" Glory asked, gesturing to the clipboard in Sequence's talons.

She paused for a moment, before handing them over.

"You are dismissed, Sequence, Thank you," Glory said looking over the papers now in her talons.

Sequence gave a quick bow before flying off.

There was something off with her- as usual- but Glory chose to ignore it. She'd talk to Sequence about it later.

Walking down the elevated pathway, she ran into her brother, Jambu.

"Jambu! Just the dragon I needed to see," Glory spoke, pleased.

Jambu was surprised... Glory was in a good mood, which could only mean one of two things; she was about to do something, or she was actually, genuinely happy.
