Starting another round of premade chapters and it feels great!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A soft humming was the first thing Batman heard as he reluctantly cracked his eyes open. His hands groped across the bed, finding only empty sheets, and sighed when he felt no one beside him. Though he was used to being alone his fuzzy mind made him reach for someone that he wished was there. His room was a full gray, the sun had come up, but the clouds above had completely blocked it; but still soft white streaks of light cut through his curtains. Batman wasn't sure what he was expecting to see as he finally sat up from his spot on the bed, but an IV attached to his bare arm was not one of them.
Following the wire on his arm he realized that his suit was gone. The hairs on the back of his neck rose and goosebumps spread across his arms. He could feel the panic start to bubble from his stomach up to his chest. A sharp, hot pain spread across his spine, but he ignored it. Batman sucked in a deep breath before pulling the IV out of his arm trying his best to bite down the groan that threatened to leave his mouth. Batman's memories of their last encounter began to flood his mind. He groaned trying to get his legs off the bed but before he could feel the tile on his feet a familiar doctor rushed in and held him back against the bed.
As he the doctor pushed Batman down, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror across the bed. His mask was still on his face. His identity was still protected. Batman felt his shoulders relax and his anxieties dispersed. The doctor released his grip from Batman and took a step back a while watching him with wary eyes. Before Batman could speak the doctor started what seemed to be a practiced speech.
"I am Doctor Rami, you took some pretty hard hits in that spaceship, so we will need to have you under seventy-two-hour observation." His words were calm which was surprisingly reassuring to Batman, "from what we can tell you have no extensive injuries, but-"
"Where the hell am I?" Batman interjected.
"The Justice League Watch Tower." The doctor informed him, "Your team was able to retrieve you from the entrance you made on the side of the ship."
"And Superman?" Batman relaxed but glared a bit at the doctor.
"Martin Man is with him now." He looked over at the door before looking back at Batman, "I believe you and him were shot by the pink beam."
"I was." Batman spoke curtly which made the doctor grow a bit pale.
"We believe the beam acts as a truth serum." He handed Batman their files on the weapon, "you and Superman will be held here until your body releases the energy."
"That's impossible-" Batman started but trailed off as he flipped through the file.
"Unless you want everyone to know who Batman really is, I recommend staying here until the energy from the beam wears off." His words were firm, but Bruce could still see the fear in his eyes.
"I can't leave my boys for long." Batman felt the words spill out of his mouth before he could stop them, "Damian is just a baby."
"I am going to transfer you to your room." The doctor tried his best to ignore the information about Batman's personal life, "Stop speaking for now."
Batman opened his mouth to speak but the doctor shushed him and stepped out of the room without another word. Batman sighed and he looked back down at the files in his lap. He could see the speculatory theories on how strong the pink beam was, how long it could last, the tests they needed to run in order to confirm their theories, and how it could affect Batman in comparison to Superman. He tossed the files to the side and tried to stand back up once again, but the searing pain the struck his spine made him groan. He gritted his teeth and pushed himself up off the bed.
