Y/n never really had a bad life. Parents loved each other, even if they sometimes either got at each other's throats or one was in a bad mood. Siblings, whether they had them or not were just being how usually siblings are. School was incredibly dull, otherwise not too bad. However, the same thing, every single day was tiring. Tiring would be an understatement. Mentally draining would be a better term.

Every day, waking up. Every day, going to the same building that's technically like a prison. Every day, going to the same classes and having the same people trail on about information that we most likely won't ever use in real life. Every day is just the same. Every day. Every day. Every day. Every day. Every day. Every day. It's all the same.

Everything just seemed like a script or in a way just unreal. Everyone didn't seem like people. Their smiles. Fake. All of it. It's just fake. Once was life happy, now declined into a bitter place where happiness seems impossible to have.

Maybe it is impossible to have. Maybe happiness isn't for everyone. Maybe true happiness can never be achieved.

Deep within the woods, Y/n began to wander. They didn't have a destination in mind. All they knew was that their life felt dull, empty and uneventful. They stopped in front of a tree, leaning their forehead against the trunk that was adorned with rough bark.

An exhausted sigh escapes their lips.

"Is there no end to this dull life?" They began monologuing which seemed more like an existential crisis, or a psychological breakdown, it was hard to tell. "Am I cursed to be this way for the rest of my life? Is time even moving forward? Has it truly been this long of my life? Am I even a person anymore? Am I even someone anymore?"

"...You're not alone..." a voice suddenly spoke behind Y/n.

Y/n immediately turned and swung full force directly at who it was. Their fist collided with the person's mask, which not only made his head jerk to the side but made his mask crack in process. Slowly, he turned his head back to them.

Their eyes widened as they covered their mouth with their hands. "Sorry," they said slightly strained.

"Fucking Hell..." the masked person cursed under his breath.

Y/n lowered their hands from their mouth. "Force of habit," they responded, hoping to lift the tension.

The masked person looked back at them. "Don't worry about it. I get it. I would've thrown hands at the random stranger behind me too," he answered, not seeming too bothered by getting hit.

Y/n chuckled lamely before going silent. The only thing someone could even hear was the slight swish of the wind, the tweety singing of the birds within the trees.

"So..." Y/n spoke up, now having to be an extravert. "Should we-"

"You owe me a new mask, or at least to repair my mask for me," the mask person cut them off, speaking rather bluntly.

Y/n's eyes widened slightly at the masked person's words. They thought about it before shrugging their shoulders. "I mean... It makes sense, but... why?"

"Well, you punched me and my mask is broken, now you have to fix it," the mask person spoke.

"Okay, Masky," Y/n said jokingly.

There was silence before the other spoke. "How do you know my name?" he asked in a low, almost dangerous tone. Y/n looked surprised.

"Wait... That's your actual name? I didn't-" Y/n was cut off by Masky, who pinned them to the ground and suddenly had an iron crowbar in his hand.

"How. Do you. Know. My name?" Masky asked slower.

"I swear, I don't know anything!" Y/n exclaimed, just then, Masky calmed down, pulling the crowbar away from them... Only to raise it once more and hit them upside the head with it, knocking them out cold.

Y/n's eyes were closed shut and their body was limp against the ground. The rising and falling of their chest signaled that they were still alive. Masky then grabbed them by their ankles and began to drag them off deeper into the woods.
