A/n: It has been crazy this past month. More info about why I took so long to post this at the end of chapter. Also I made this chapter more fun-ish and you meet some of the characters here.
_____________________You grabbed the money, thanking the old lady. The sun slowly set turning the sky a light orange. She just smiles softly and waved goodbye as you left.
Going down the street and trying to make your way back to the motel. A soft pitter-patter follows you. Almond barks as she tries to keep up.
"Can't carry you right now, Almond. I'm all dirty from cleaning Mrs. Qiang's house. You just have to walk this time."
Almond barks and huffs, clearly disappointed.
"Hey, at least I got paid a lot, this time. What do you feel like eating tonight? Oh, what did they call it again- it looks like a burger, but the meat is shredded." You pause and thought as you two walk down the busy street. "A rou jia mo? I think that's what they called it when I was there looking at the food. It looks good."
Almond barks and run circles around you. Excited by your words. It was as if she was also praising you for remembering what the simple food was called in its proper Chinese name. At least someone noticed you trying and praising your small accomplishments...even though that person was a dog.
It has been a strange and exhausting week. Been running around the city finding small jobs. Moving heavy objects, cleaning houses and rooms, or delivering things. Well, at least your finding work that pays for a night at the motel, food, and some new clothes so you don't have to keep wearing those old ripped ones.
The food vendor gives you a small brown bag. Quickly you pay for the food and head to the park, wanting to find a spot to eat. Enjoying your evening. Surprisingly, the city has been quite peaceful. No villains trying to take over, just peace. Yeah some demons and people do try to cause trouble but it's just simple small crimes.
You take a bite of your dinner and hum. It was certainly different than what you're used to, but the food was good.
Staring up at the orange sky, you get lost in thought. Only hearing Almond eat the rou jia mo.
Things have been going well. You managed to survive in this new world. Though, you have to admit that Almond helped a lot. Guiding you around the city and being the best emotional companion a dog can be.
Also, you never ran into any of the characters either. So things are pretty damn peaceful, you just have been tired and sore.
You finish your food and throw away the trash. Getting up from your spot, Almond quickly mimics you and follows.
"Do you think things will turn out fine for us?"
"Woof!"
Almond walks beside you. As the two of you get out of the small park and head back to the motel.
"You really think that? I mean, I literally have no idea what I'm doing and have no plan on what to do."
"Woof! Woof."
You glance down at her as you open the door to your current residence. Almond immediately jumps onto the bed as you grab a large nightshirt. Heading to the bathroom for a quick shower.
All day, you spent cleaning and moving stuff around for Mrs. Qiang. A sweet old lady you met at the market earlier this week. Usually, you just help around her stall and do small errands. Today luckily, she hired you to help clean her house. You got paid more than you did the previous days combine. However, it was a lot of work.
