I'm not too proud of this short story so, enjoy it before I regret posting this one/j

Loud, heavy footsteps and breathing filled the large and open corridor, a loud roar followed behind me. My group and I have been separated in this maze-like library because of this thing! I can't imagine if they are even alive or dead. My bluish-gray eyes have been filled with fear, I can feel my heartbeat through my ears, adrenaline rushed through my body instantly. I looked back and the creature was right on my tail, it had a scorpion like body with tentacles ripping out of the sides, the head was unrecognizable from what I have seen but I know that it was made out of human flesh with a mix of other animals. But from what I know, it was blind and had a mouth like a squid. I heard chomping sounds behind me as it gained closer and closer to me

I ran and used all of my body's strength to make a sharp turn to the left before it could eat me whole. My whole body slammed against the hardwood floor, but I managed to escape the creature for now. It ran straight ahead thinking that it was still chasing after me. I leaned against one of the bookshelves, managing to catch my breath, an aching pain shot through my body. I wanted to scream but if I did it would find me. I covered my mouth with my left hand. Tears started building in my eyes, some even escaping them, I couldn't feel my right hand. I looked down and screamed the loudest I have ever, at the sight I had seen. My right forearm had a huge slash from my hard to my forearm, with a large puddle of blood, some still dripping down. I heard the sounds of the creature coming towards me so I ran again, I put pressure onto my right forearm trying to stop the blood flow, getting up from the floor and ran dodging through corners to throw it off guard. As I was running I noticed something in one of the creeks of the bookshelves, it was my group.

My smile of relief crept on my face, I dodged the final corner before losing the creature for now, before falling onto the ground. I grunted as I hit the floor hard, I waited for the release of death but instead I had been getting dragged by one of my companions, Ray. Ray was the strongest of all of us but she is also one of the nicest and funniest people you will ever meet. "I'm so glad we found you, we thought you were-" she was cut off as she looked down at my now slashed up arm. A mix of shock and sorrow had now filled her hazel eyes, everyone went silent. Another one of the group members, Robin, had taken off her leather jacket that she loved more than everyone else, applied it to the wound to stop too much blood from spilling out. "Geez! Mr. Tentacles really did a number on you huh?" Andrew said, Andrew was the person who would make jokes out of any situation to lighten the mood. Everyone including myself gave him the same expression that read, "Are you serious right now" or "not the right time man." Andrew's face went white fast and mumbled the word "Sorry" backing away just a little

"We found these relics? In some of the bookshelves while we were running around" Ray said questioning herself pulling them out from her pockets, they looked familiar but I couldn't remember where I had seen them. My mind had gone blank, I wanted to sleep but I knew I couldn't. I had to keep fighting to escape. I wanted to say something about the relics but the only sentence I managed to mutter out was, "Wher-where is Sage and Finley...?" the three went silent, sadness had flooded across each of their faces, my heart dropped deep into my stomach, my blood went cold, "No! No, no, no, no, no!" I said sitting up, tears flooding down my face. Robin covered my mouth as an attempt to shut me up. Immediately right next to us, we heard another roar and heavy footsteps. We all went silent once again, our faces turning back into white, whiter than my shirt if it wasn't covered in blood right now if that's possible. "We have to go. Now." Robin whispered, the three of us nodded to Robin. Andrew stuck out his hand waiting for me to grab it, once I grabbed his hand he immediately pulled me up, making my feet stumble a little trying to balance from the harsh pull. Once I'd regained my balance, my heart still pounding harder and harder by each growing minute
