"Slowly."

You nodded, and you both crept out of the room and closed the door. It let out a growl when the door shut, crawling over to it and hovering over it. You tried not to look back, focusing on the way Leon's lips pulled together in a line, how his brows made his big blue eyes into narrow slits.

The Licker screeched in disappointment, running one of its three claws along the door. Leon pushed open the women's locker room door, and you turned. The Licker's head swooped up, and it desperately began to crawl towards the door. It shut before you could see what became of it.

You let out a sigh of relief as Leon dragged you through both locker rooms, and it finally occurred to you that the wall that separated them had crumbled.

Did the big guy do that?

He pulled you out of the men's locker room, and finally decided to share his plan.

"If we head back to the safety deposit room, we can get those last couple things," the door closed behind you as he spoke.

You hopped over Phillips, and climbed down the stairs to the first floor.

"Do you think —"

A screech came from the hallway, and you gasped. Leon threw his hand over your mouth.

He knew damn well what that was.

It was too late. It knew you were here. You whimpered into his hand, and he quickly got his priorities straight. He shoved you down onto the staircase. Your back slammed into the wood, and you couldn't help but scream in pain.

That only let the Licker know what you were.

It quickly turned its attention to you, scrambling forward.

A woman! A real, living woman!

Leon cocked his shotgun, shooting it straight in the head. It's blood splattered across your face, and you threw your hand over your mouth. It screeched in pain, turning back to Leon. He shot it twice, and it resorted to climbing up the wall. He shot it again, and reloaded. Leon dodged when it swang at him, and it paused. Realization never felt so good.

It didn't know where he was.

It cocked its head. It let out a small growl, and Leon made no move to acknowledge it. It felt around for a moment, tongue slowly lolling out of its mouth, past its rows of needle-like teeth.

Oh, well. Back to the woman.

The plan had backfired. Leon wanted to scream when it crawled back to you, and it's claws brushed against your boot. You shook from terror, tears spilling down your cheeks when it climbed up to your body. It cocked its head, curious as to the sounds of your bated breaths and shaky body.

You could almost see it grinning, relishing in your horror.

Leon knew you were strong. It's why he admired you so much. You could kill dozens of zombies in seconds, and looked good while doing it. You were smart and were quick on your feet. So seeing you so scared... it made him scared, too.

And another feeling he couldn't quite place.

Anger? Of course. You were his partner, why wouldn't —

Jealousy.

The thought made his cheeks burn red of both frustration and embarrassment. He was jealous of this beast. He heard something roll along the floor, and Leons eyes caught a flash bang. While the light wouldn't do any good, the noise might.
