Opal made the first move, an arrow whizzing past my head as I lunged at her. I hooked my wrist around the bow, trying to yank it out her hold. She grabbed a bow, trying to jab it into my forearm. I slammed my foot into the back of her knee, grabbing the arrows out of her holster. XD said that the family had two gifts, a sword that could kill a god and arrows that could poison any being; best guess that Opal was using those arrows.

I tossed the arrows aside, just as a hand grabbed my neck, flinging me off the porch. Onyx, of course he'd be the first to defend his sister. He looked torn though, eyes darting between his sister and me. I got to my feet and threw the ax at him. He caught it effortlessly between both hands, giving me a chance to drive my foot against the side of his head. He stumbled to the side, looking up at me.

I grabbed his shirt, staring into his dark gray eyes. He didn't make a move. "You and I both know that isn't your sister," I whispered. He didn't respond, he knew it to be true. Onyx took a deep breath and got up. He grabbed the collar of my shirt likewise, hands shaking as veins buldged out of his arm.

   "She isn't, but you're not Y/n either."

"I wish I was." He stared at me before sending a weak punch towards my head, leaving the side of his head open. He knew what he was doing. I drove the ax through his neck, and Opal stumbled again. I stepped over Onyx, just as I did so many years ago when I was searching for my mom.

I looked towards the flapping of wings to see Phil, struggling to carry Techno. I looked at them, trying to smile, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. An arrow shot past my head again, but it came from the opposite direct as Opal. An arrow blunged itself against the railing of the porch and a loud expletive rang out. I turned, finding Drista reloading her bow on a giddy golden horse.

   "Dris--"

Dream cut me off. "Drista! What are you doing here?" He exclaimed, in the middle of fighting Garnet. Garnet kicked him in the stomach, making him stumble back slightly. He grabbed her fist, struggling in place with her. Drista ignored him and ran over to me, leaving the horse behind to chase after a butterfly. She engulfed me into a big, warm hug.

"Y/n!" She cried, "why did you leave like that?" I stared at her, my hand resting on her cheek.

"You need to leave," I said. I couldn't look at her a moment longer, or else I'd just see Lavender again. "Go b--" Opal had run at me, elbowing me in the stomach as I turned. She kicked my side, grabbing my wrist just before I fell. She threw me into the dirt. I looked up, the world around me blurry and spinning. I saw Drista, trying to fight off Coral. Opal grabbed a knife and drove it towards my heart.

I turned out of the way and kneed her in the stomach. She doubled over and I pushed her away. She didn't go down easily, grabbing the knife and plunging into my shoulder, she tore it out, twisting it slightly. I gritted my teeth and grabbed her head, smashing my forehead against hers. She stumbled back, still holding the bloodied knife. The ax laid a bit away and she kicked it away as I reached for it.

She smashed her foot down on my chest, and I could feel something break. "This is where you and your little spree of betrayal ends."

I panicked and reached my hand up to my neck, "XDpleaseI'mboutadie." Opal looked at me with furrowed brows that soon widened in sheer horror as the earth shook below us. She let up the pressure against my chest and I tried to take a deep breath. Lighting struck the ground behind the house, and XD slowly rose. He looked towards me and took me up in his hand. Slowly, the pain in my chest faded, and the stinging sensation in my shoulder subsided.

"Who did this to you?" He asked.  I was about to answer when a murder of crows flew towards the same area where the lightning struck.

"Oh crap," I heard Phil say before the glowing emblem of a pair of crows circling a heart appeared on the ground. XD muttered something under his breath as Kristen appeared from the emblem. The crows settled on her long hat, their squawking ceasing. She pulled back the veil, and her deep purple eyes held nothing but unfiltered hatred towards XD.

"You must really want to restart that war again." Kristen raised her hand and a shimmering dark scythe grew from her palm. XD sat me down on the ground carefully, a glowing golden spear in his hand. He twisted it around once, as if getting used to the feeling.

"Your L/ns are out of control, more so than last time."

I looked back to Opal, but she wasn't there. I searched the crowd and found her sneaking up on Drista, knife in hand. I didn't get a chance to yell before Dream knocked his younger sister out of the way, kicking Opal back while driving his knife through one of Coral's arms. "Are you alright?" He asked, helping her up. Garnet, noticing her opponent was gone and had harmed her baby sister, ran towards Dream with a readied fist.

I ran towards the group, unfastening the mask from my belt. I looked up at the stars once again as I approached the group. "I hope you're watching your son, Terran." With a flick of my wrist, I threw the mask at Dream. I grabbed my ax off the ground and pushed Garnet back. Dream held it in his hands and looked at me, gods it would be so much easier to read his face if he didn't wear that mask. "Terran, before he died--" I said, trying to hold off Garnet, "--he said to give that to you when you were ready, when you were a true king." I grabbed Garnet's arm and flung her into the ground with a grunt. "Don't make me regret it."

I looked back to Garnet, who wiped a string of thick, dark blood from her nose. "You didn't kill him, did you?" Dream asked, pushing Coral back with ease. Garnet got up and lunged at me.

"I killed the knights," I said, avoiding one of Garnet's punches, "I would rather die than kill your father." I drove the ax through Garnet's chest and she stumbled back with wide eyes. She grinned at me and fell onto the ground.

"Damn, you win this round." I offered her a smile, pulling out my ax. Topaz, Coral, Lazuli, and Opal were the only ones left.

"Dream, kill that one in the blue dress," I ordered, pointing at Lazuli. She was suffering, her twin having already fallen. He nodded, running towards her. Opal took hurried breaths, eyes darting around as her family fell around her. Opal's milky irises looked forward and she grabbed an arrow off the ground.

One more body hit the ground, it was Lazuli. They were growing weaker with each one dead. Opal stumbled a bit as she pulled back her bow.

I smiled solemnly. It was hard to believe we were once happy. Me and Opal used to braid flowers into each other's hair, we used to stay up late and feed the fawns that would wander towards us. I took a deep breath, staring at the people around me, in case this was the last time I could see them. Then, I ran to her.

A memory played as I raced towards my cousin, a memory of me running to her when she was hurt in the woods. She'd fallen from a tree, breaking her leg. I carried her all the way home, and she didn't mind. She sunk into my arms, resting her head against my shoulder. She felt safe with me, we trusted each other.

That seemed like centuries ago now.

Opal let go of the arrow as I raised my ax. I heard two people drop to the ground as I cut through Opal's arms, her bones snapping. The arrow flew towards me and before I knew what was happening, I was on the ground, the arrow lodged into my chest. I blinked up at the sky, trying to breathe.

"Y/n!" Drista screamed, running to my side. A burning feeling sprung out from my chest, seeping into my arms and legs. I gasped, wincing. Heavy, ground shaking footsteps ran towards us. I looked up at Drista, smiling. I ruffled her long hair, I never did get the chance to see her with short hair. Nor did I get the chance to see the beautiful dress for the winter ball she picked out.

"Dris..." I whispered, voice raspy. "Look at you...gods, I'm so proud..." I chuckled, wincing slightly. Drista was crying, holding my hand tightly. "I love you..." I realized this was the first time I ever said it to her, I never said it whenever she won her archery competitions, never said it after reading her a bedtime story, even after she gave me handmade gifts, I never said it. "I love you...'m sorry I didn't say it enough..."

It was getting hard to breath, hard to open my eyes as well. I looked up at the stars, Drista was speaking, but I couldn't hear her.

   Everything was blurry.

   Clouded.

   Quiet.
