Chapter 7 •Maddie's POV• I pounded my fist on the wall of my cell again. I was waiting for a trial. I knew I was guilty and Kenzie did. And my mom. Not that she would admit. Why do I have a trial? Apparently I kidnapped Mackenzie. No way. She's my sister! "Miss Ziegler," a lady said as she opened my cell door. "It's time fr your trial." I sighed and followed her down the hall. Past the others who awaited their trials. She opened the large double doors and led me up to a little podium. It was small only a few people there. It was me, the judge, and spectators. In the front row sat my mother, Kenzie, and the man who found us. Behind them sat people I recognized like the man at the grocery store and the woman who came me money a month ago with her family. Even further behind them were random people who I figured were on jury duty. I slouched over but straightened as the judge looked over. I told my story from the beginning. All of it. Us being poor, Kenzie getting sick, my mom leaving me, me and Kenzie running away, all of it. Mackenzie told what she knew which matched mine exactly except she told how she was in the hospital and my mom left me and then never looked for me. "All I know I found them," the man said. I couldn't help but smile at his thick southern accent. "Mrs. Ziegler," the judge said motioning to my mother. She told how money was tight and she had to leave me, but she did look but couldn't find me. I could tell Kenzie wanted to butt in but she didn't. "And next thing I know my little Kenzieboo is missing," my mom said finishing her story. "Okay I've heard enough," the judge said. Everyone had spoken. The grocery store man said how I always came in, sometimes with Kenzie and always paid fairly and was kind. That must've helped. "I've made my choice and you're proven..." || Lalalala oh oops more?
