Chapter 6 •Maddie's POV•
*1 Month Later*
I ripped another poster off another tree. It had Kenzie's face plastered on it. These were everywhere. It's a wonder how we hadn't been seen yet. I crumpled the paper and threw it in the garbage with the rest. "When can we leave?" Kenzie asked from the bush. I ducked there behind her. "We can't yet, everyone's coming home from work now. We could easily be seen," I answered. She groaned and buried her head in her hands. I looked in my bag and pulled out a little piece of chocolate. "Thank you!" Kenzie exclaimed. She ate it slowly just like I would. "Sorry you have to do this," I said. "I want to, plus I have you," Kenzie said and gave me a hug. "I know but we can't keep this up forever," I said sadly. "I know," she said sadly. We sat I silence for awhile. I pulled out my book and started to read and found she did the same. "Lets just sleep here, it had good shade and it's covered," I told Kenzie when night fell. I she put her book back and lay her head down on her bag. I did the same. It was a good thing it's summer. We'd freeze to death if it was winter. Yet, nights were still cold. We had snuck back to the house and gotten a blanket and more money since we couldn't get it off the streets anymore. Well Kenz couldn't. Sometimes I'd leave her, get money and come back. I pulled the blanket out an lay it over Kenzie. I crawled under the other side and tried my best to fall asleep.

When I woke up I stretched out my arms. It was hard sleeping in a bush. Kenzie sat up, reading her book. I gave her a small piece of bread and ate one myself. Same old routine, because I didn't know today would be different. I turned around and was face to face with a man. He grabbed my wrist and in his other hand he held Kenzie's. "Found ya," he said looking at Kenzie. || I finished typing! I have the rest written! Dedicated to @dancemomsfanfics1☁ more?
