Anniversary

Ian's pov

Ian hasn't been this upset with Mickey in a long time. Especially not since they have been married. A year ago today.

Ian and Mickey have been married for a year. Never in his life did Ian think they'd last this long. But they have.

Ian also knows he's on the more sensitive side, he also knows shit like this doesn't matter much to Mickey. But it does to Ian. He wants to speak up, to let him know that he wants to celebrate their one year anniversary. But he doesn't speak up.

Not out of fear of embarrassment to find out Mickey doesn't actually care. Not out of fear to find out that Mickey doesn't know it was a year ago they got married. But out of fear of reminding Mickey about their marriage and he still doesn't care, even though he can see it matters to Ian.

Ian knows Mickey loves him, he's seen Mickey do things for Ian that he hasn't even done for his own family. I mean, he came out for Ian for christ sakes.

But Ian still can't help but be upset.

"Yo, Ian" he ignores Mick, and continues to doodle on the newspaper sitting infront of him. "Ian" Mickey's voice became louder. "Are you ignoring me, bitch" Mickey shouted, running down the stairs.

"You just woke up the entire house, i'm pretty sure everyone is ignoring you" Ian replied, flipping furiously through pages. "What you doing today" Ian asked, hope lingering for a millisecond. He pushed down the thoughts before they went to his head.

"Not you" Mickey laughed to himself, grabbing a cartoon of juice, what Ian assumed had gone off. Mickey just shrugged, pouring himself a glass. "It doesn't count if you don't drink from the bottle" he began singing.

"You seem chirpy" Ian mumbled, his mood had already dampered. Ian watched as Mickey shrugged while lifting the juice up as if to ask Ian if he wanted something that would set both of their stomachs off. "I'd.. rather not. Thanks though".

"Suit yourself".

"I have a shift later" Ian spoke to Mickey, who was staring at his phone.

"Still doing that dodgy shit? Gotta say Gallagher, never thought you'd-"

"I don't exactly have a choice, Mick" Ian deadpanned.

"Yeah yeah, way to take the fun out of shit. Anyway, Kev is talking about going to the alibi tonight or some shit. You in" Mickey asked, still paying attention to his phone. Ian just shrugged.

"Sure" he spoke while picking up his bag on the counter. "Why not? There's nothing better to do".

Ian spent the rest of the day working. Hours took forever. A couple of texts from Lip asking about moving. A couple of texts from Debbie.. also asking about moving. Both were different conversations. Debbie complaining, Lip begging. Carl talking about making his first arrest. Liam was radio silent, he always was these days. I take it as a sign of him growing up.

Mickey messaged once. U still on 4 tongith.

Ian didn't reply. Not because he didn't want to. He just doesn't have time. He was working. Besides these new bosses have been up his ass recently. Something about Ian being a good samaritan and having an hero complex. Ian just calls it being a decent person.

He gets his paycheck, then makes his way home. When him and Mickey gets their own place together (for good this time), Ian reckons he'd like his own car. Something about waking up in the morning to go to work, then getting in your car that you payed for sounds nice to Ian. Like it allows him to feel like he's made it somehow.
